Beat me to it.

Since someone else brought it up,
Sigma 6 Timber has a shocking amount of articulation. Hinged jaw, ball jointed neck, four swivel hips, two other points of articulation per leg. It's pretty spectacular. Naturally it came with one of the least useful versions of Snake-Eyes.
any chance of a pic of that Sigma Timber with a modern Joe? Thinking with some sculpt work, that could make a nice frame for a 1/18 direwolf...
Direwolves weren't actually that big. Just a little taller than modern wolves, and more heavily built. Given the angular style of those sigma figures, I'd paint that puppy up in a worn metallic scheme and call it a giant wolf mech. (Mind you, the size sounds perfect for the "dreadwolves" I came up with for one of my world settings.)
For an articulated 1/18 scale wolf, you're probably looking at cutting up a Schleich wolf, and grafting in joints cut from action figures. Probably Joe and Star Wars shoulders, elbows, and SW knees would be good for the wolf's hips and shoulders, use the ball joints from those little Legends class Transformers for elbows, knees or ankles. Fur textures are startling easy to sculpt, for patching things up around the joints.
