Over on JoeDeclassified, glumby has posted some of his modern era prototypes and test shots. While the sharc and deep six are neat, I'd like to call your attention to the so bright you'll need shades Vamp. http://joedeclassified.com/forum/viewto ... 3144#p3144

Thankfully it's a prototype. I hope we get another VAMP. Could always use it for a custom!

What is all the hells is the point of that Vamp? I mean, I love it, but I don't see why they would make it in so many colors.

With those colors, it looks like those toys you'd get to go to the beach.
I love it!

I would suspect it's for some type of diagnostics or testing. Possibly using a camera where the vehicle needs to be high visibility.

When they do prototypes they usually only make a handful at most. So they use whatever color plastic is available from other production runs rather than making up a batch of the correct colors. These are used to check the fit and assembly and sculpt before full on production is done. They had no intention of making the VAMP in those colors, it was just what was lying around at the time they ran the prototype.

It's spelled Funskool.

And the GIJCC should make the VAMP in those loud prototype colors as a Con exclusive sometime.

It would be cool. And better than that Indy Staff Car nonsense repaint the Red Shadows got stuck with.

In fact I want a boxed set of modern figures in bright Funskool colors from the Club.

Like the 30th Lifeline in the pastel shades of yellow and green of the Fskool release. Resolute Beachhead in neon green. And 25th Bludd in sky blue and sunshine yellow.

I wonder if every now and then when a figure is released with a strangely coloured highlight or accessory if it is because the designer was inspired by a funky prototype like this.

Glumby is just getting warmed up. He has a ton of stuff he'll be uploading so keep your eyes on that thread!!!
And for anyone attending JoeCon, he'll be bringing things for the Declassified Booth.

Most likely this. It's a first shot (and first shots can be in funky colours regardless) but on occassion... with intent most likely, as with what nova said. There's a couple of those Vamps in the hands of collectors. One of them has a few translucent(white) parts to it... wheels etc. So it does seem less like a "what we had lying around" (although that DOES happen) and more of a "these things were done like this with a purpose."
