So out of the package, most of these guys are leaning to the right. But if you pull the torso the other way (it takes some effort) he'll pop all the way over, showing off the new articulation.

So instead of the torso just moving forward and back, on the new SE it moves to the left and right, too. Nifty!

Check it out.

All the new molds from about wave 2 on have this. Firefly, Zartan, Shipwreck, and every non-wave 1/5-pack mold since has the side to side movement in the torso.

Yeah, I noticed this on the Ace and Breaker figs I took apart for a custom.

Hey now, I had no clue about the side to side thing.

See, this is why I always vote Dasaffe in all the polls. ;)

I didn't know that, either. And apparently I'm not the only one since I've seen a lot of reviews that complain about SE leaning to the right.

Good to know though!

OK, I just tried Ace, Torpedo and Lady Jaye and they definitely do not have the same articulation of SE.

I'm confused.

I've noticed that they do indeed engineer the interior of the chests so that there can be side-to-side movement; but then they make that dumb pointless friction cap so big that it essentially fills the entire void and thus prevents such movement. As I've been cracking the chests I've been gluing that cap on and then trimming its sides so it's no wider than the flat head of the pin coming up out of the abdomen. I find it also helps to scuff the top of the cap a bit so it's not so 'frictive' in there and the fig actually can do the side-to-side motion they're engineering them for.

LJ hasn't needed any of this, all 10 or 12 of her I've gotten for customs. In fact, her motion is the best of the entire line, imho; with a nice solid ratchety movement to much greater degrees than anyone else.

Those two do, maybe not to the same degree, but the same type for sure. I've popped an Ace torso so I can tell you that he's designed to for sure. You may be right on Torpedo though, I couldn't get either of the loose ones I have to do anything. The only way to be sure would be to pop the torso, which I don't have any great desire to do. As far as I'm aware though he's the only exception.

Strange. I can't get any of mine to pop over except for SE.
