I'd popped over to Newsarama to catch up on my comic book news, and found this article about the voice actress Grey DeLisle. Apparently she just finished recording a pilot for a new GI Joe cartoon where she plays Scarlett and one other character.

Expect it to be like with Transformers. They wanted to play up the movie so there was nothing about a cartoon forever. Then all of a sudden they pull out Animated really quickly after they started talking about post movie things.

I'm sure Hasbro will say they have no plans for a new cartoon all the way until the release date of the live action only to announce a new GI Joe cartoon as soon as things start to cool down after the movie.

Guess the big question is just what will the cartoon be like. With Transformers they managed to pull off a bit of a G1 feel while still being all new and pulling in stuff from the whole cartoon history. Then they topped all that off with really good writing for a current American cartoon. Wonder if they can pull something like that off twice to get us a cool GI Joe cartoon instead of another Sigma Six.

Hasbro hasn't denied a cartoon. At the atlanata con they said a cartoon was a logical follow-up to the movie but at that time nothing was in the works yet. That was nine-months ago. Makes since that it would be in the works now, but they're not going to publically announce it until the post movie buzz has waned.

I hope it's a carbon copy of the Transformers: Animated formula. A fun show that kids want to watch, that's still written smart enough for us old timers.



Ick, I hope not. At least, not in the same style.
