I would love to see them release one, but just in case they don't, one of the vehicles from the new Star Wars Clone Wars line (I forget what it was called...it was the one with two folding wings on the sides, not yet released) looks like it would make a great base for a custom Flying Wing.

I could see them doing one.

I don't think play features are too much of a problem. The truck has a load of play features (opening doors, "break away" grille, trailing whip-rope thing, removable tarp with hand-holds molded in to it, etc.) and it had a nice cheap-ish $20 price tag.

The German car does too, though not really as many (launcher gun, 3 oil barrels, break apart road block thingy, etc.)

The Wing could be slightly smaller than true 1:18 scale (though not as bad as the Sky Sweeper) and have some play features like maybe a lever that makes the props spin, opening hatches, swivel rear gunner station, and even a figure or two.

Even with all of that I think they would be able to keep the price to $40 or less. Which isn't too bad for a vehicle/playset with a couple of figures.

If the line continues to do as well as it seems to be doing now, and if the new movie is a hit, then I would also be willing to bet we will see one made.

I agree that it would ahve at least these. Maybe some gun fire and propeller sounds too. Like Lance said, if they make it, they would pack in a lot of play features. Like the truck I'd expect some hand and foot holds so figures could hang off it and walk on it too. Add in the mechanic and maybe the pilot or Marion in the white dress and you have the typical Hasbro large vehicle release.

Finally found the quote I was thinking of from a recent Hasbro Q&A with the Star Wars team:

Quote:
Q3. We haven't seen the Indy line at retail yet, and already interest is focusing beyond your initial offerings - specifically on vehicles. The 'Last Crusade Tank' and 'Raider's Flying Wing' - are these something you've considered producing?

A. We are indeed considering the Flying Wing for the vehicle line and are looking at whether it can be done in our $19.99 assortment (if we did it, it would be in '09 at the earliest). However, the Tank is just too big to do in our $19.99 vehicle line. As we don't have another, higher priced assortment in the IJ line, this one will have to be a "wait and see" based on the response to the IJ line, and possibly tied to future movies if we can't get it done for this one. The entire IJ line will have a shelf-date of 5/1.

IMO, if they do it, and it's in that $19.99 price assortment, it's gonna be lame. I mean like Sith Infiltrator lame.

Maybe the Wing could be on the larger side, without the bells and whistles.

That's...odd. It would seem to me that the tank would be a heck of a lot easier to scale down than the Wing.

The worst part is, movie wise, the plane doesn't do a darn thing but blow up! Sure it looks cool, but what kid wants to play with a plane that rotates, then explodes?

Larger toys usually tend to get released closer to Xmas...I'd say we may see it this year (possibly premiered at SDCC). I can see the Wing priced about $40, and scaled down just a bit to make it roughtly SW Gunship size. I also see a Mechanic and Soldier packed in for more incentive.

As for action features, I see spinning propellers and blow-off battle damaged panels at a minumum...possibly some electronic movie noises thrown in too. Maybe a cargo/bomb bay underneath (since they were supposed to be using the plane to haul the Ark out of Egypt).

Obviously, they're too politically afraid to make it with movie accurate markings. As long as they make it where you can later apply hobby-store-acquired movie accurate markings (i.e., paint on the red stripes with blank white circles)...I'll be good.

Don't forget it slices and dices burly mechanics, too. :shifty: Dude, use thine imagination...like when you were a kid. I can guarantee you that, if one of these had been released back in '81, my 9-year-old self would have killed to have one to play with. I've already got a million and one uses for a cool plane like this with my other 3.75" toys. :-D

Meh... I'd still so much prefer the Crusade tank, personally.

One good sign I noticed, about the continuation of Indiana Jones Vehicles, is that I haven't seen any German Trucks in the store for about a week and a half now, and Toys R' Us.com is sold out of them too.

The truck seems to be selling very well, and that can't be bad for the possibility of a slightly more expensive, bigger German Flying Wing.

I really hope they refrain from falling in to the electronic features, though. I think it will help keep costs down if they continue to skip it. The truck and troop car don't have any electronics and I think (besides the launcher on the car) they are about as perfect as a person could want.
Great kids toys, and great for the movie toy collectors too, all at an affordable price.

If they had added electronic features to the Cargo Truck and upped the price $5-$10, I don't think they would be selling as well. I wouldn't have bought 2, and be considering getting more, if they were $5-$10 more expensive. And I for sure would've passed on the Troop Car for that price.

I think the Flying Wing would sell better, as a bigger size toy, based on the vehicle formula they are using now. Without the added costs due to electronic features.

I am also a bit surprised that they think the tank would be bigger than the Flying Wing. I would've thought that the tank would be easier for them to do. How much was the Patriot Grizzly when it came out? $30?
And the Last Crusade tank wouldn't need to be as big as the Grizzly. Plus get rid of the electronics and firing gimmick and you've got a decent size tank, and a reasonable price. :-/

We should get a Henry Sr and Indy with the German Motorcycle/sidecar.

Maybe a section of track with a couple of mine carts.

Even a inflatable raft with Indy, Short Round, and Willie Scott.

I'd buy that seaplane from the beginning of Raiders.

I'd kill for the Ford Tri-Motor.

As for a diorama, maybe the top section of the sub conning tower with a drenched Indy lashed to the periscope?

I can only hope we get a Marion Ravenwood bar playset...

Don't forget to tack on that hefty Lucasfilm licensing fee...that ought to bump the price a good $10 or so...

That said, though, the Last Crusade Tank and Raiders Flying Wing would make a great $40/$50 vehicle assortment. *HINT HINT HASBRO*

Oh yeah... hadn't really factored that.

But still with that added they should be able to make one for atleast the same cost as the Grizzly, with the licensing fees off-setting the removed gimmicks and electronics. The licensing fees didn't make the other vehicles' prices go ridiculous, so it shouldn't be too big of a factor.

I could see them still being able to make a good tank for $30-$40, and a good Flying Wing for $40-$50.

Even at full and accurate 1/18 scale the tank from Crusade would be a good bit smaller than the Patriot.

They could do it, and it could be profitable. It's all a matter of them wanting to.
