I wanted to ask some of you guys who have worked retail at places like Wal-mart and Target and Toys R us, when do these place normally restock toys? Is it a certain time of the month like the 1st and 15th or is it a certian time of the week like Friday or monday? It would help me to beat the scalpers if I knew when new stuff was put out.

I've been told Target usually restocks toys on Tues. Wal Mart when I worked there used to get trucks in almost every day but the weekends. Don't know about TRU or any of the other stores.

A buddy of mine works at Wal-mart locally, he said Mon, wed, or fri is when they restock to the toys (Unless its something big like SW figs when a new movie hits or the new indy figs). Of course he usually calls me to tell me when new stuff comes in as well so that helps.

The other WM's I have seen nearby towns are sparatic, my friend said that really its up to the individual stores based on thier shipment scheduals. He said the best times are the day before the "Big days" (1st and 15th of the month and before the weekends after those days) since that is the most brisk sales and they tend to make sure all the stock is out.

Here in Nashville the TRU is 'susposed' to restock on Sat and Tues. Those are the schedule days, but still hit or miss on finding things.

My TRU as well as the others around Jax had the new stock on the shelves on Saturday morning, but now its Friday morning. And no one has told the scalpers yet

Target I have no idea, I finally found a clue they are getting new Joes today, I found the latest Snake Eyes but it was the only single pack fig there. So I guess they restock when ever the heck they want. I have seen new stock in Target on Mon, Tues, Wed and sometimes Thurs. Its annoying to go EVERYDAY.

I worked at a TRU when I was 18 (wow, 17 years ago!). Back then, all the crap was put on U-boats and stocked randomly. There was no set date for anything going out, but I am working on aged information. May be different now.

Wal-Mart-Thursday or Friday

And I never seen new product on the weekends, you wait till then, you will miss out.

When I worked at Target, we got a truck every day. What was on the truck was a different story. I would help stock toys and for weeks some pegs would be empty. I asked why and later found out when we went to the big distribution warehouse that it all depends on what is shipped from the major companies. For instance, Hasbro would ship 6 cases of Star Wars figures. Those Six cases would have to be distributed to however many stores that warehouse services. If say they service 10 stores...then the cases would be opened and distributed amongst the stores. Now, Target either gets a case or they don't get anything because as I recall, Target doesn't really deal with Distribution on that level. (unlike say Walgreens where most of the crap comes in totes and it is the qty ordered.) But, Target used to stock everyday. I am not sure if that is the case. Walgreens is once or twice a week depending on the size and volume the store does. Walmart I understand get s a truck a few times a week but it depends what is on it. So, even though they are stocking the store..they may not have what you are looking for because of what the warehouse has given them.

TRU, they put stuff out on Thursday and Friday.

I don't have a Target or K Mart near by, so i don't know.

KB Toys is usually friday, but mine sucks, for they get stuff in waaaaay to late.

I think Targets get stuff when they need it, they don't have tons of stuff in the back like people think, they might have a half empty case of figures here and there, but I'm pretty sure their stuff is ordered when they need it, unless it's some sort of special where they order extra for an endcap.

I was told by this manager that their stuff is ordered by the computer for restocks, they usually have nothing to do with ordering, like Walmart, where a manager can pull up the items on their triquarter things, and order what they want.

As for dates, it's always different for me. There's a local Walmart that's opened till 11pm here, and whenever I go there, they usually bring out the pallets around 10:30 EVERY NIGHT, but I swear, they must have the laziest toys employees, cause it's always empty, that or people pallet shop before it gets a chance to hit the aisle(I won't lie, I've done it in the past ).

Target stocks their stuff every night also, and has something called a refresher stock, or something like that. I think it's 1pm and 5pm, so if they do have some stuff back there, it's usually put on one of those small red tubs that I always stub my toes on and stocked at that time, so if you check during the day, I think it would be best to check after 1 and 5.

I don't know if they get trucks in during the day, but I would think, if they got one in, it had new stuff on it and then 5pm came a long, then it might get put out, but I don't know. we might have to get someone who works there to confirm.

The KB I'm at gets a truck on Tuesday or Wednesday. Every so often it gets moved to Thursday. All stock is to start going out as soon as the truck is unloaded and should be finished by Friday. Of course due to too much getting sent, some items go in the back until there's a spot to put it on the shelves.

Target here seems to get a truck in on Tuesday with a possible restock on Thursday.

Wal-Mart, the Monday, Wednesday, and Friday restock is about right for here. All but 1 Wal-Mart here seems to follow that. I can't ever tell what they do.

K-Mart, who knows. I can't ever figure them out and I don't know anybody that works there.

Toys R Us generally gets a truck on Tuesday with the items going out later that evening or the next day. Sometimes it'll be there on Wednesday. They also can get a refresh shipment later in the week when necessary.

That's in my area though...

Well, I can confirm that Tuesday is a popular day for Target re-stocking -- I just found wave 7 at two different Denver-suburb Targets today on my way home from work (they had nothing yesterday.)
