Is it just me or do Cobra troopers just not look right without gloves? If for no other reason than to keep from leaving finger prints all over crime scenes and the Cobra base (which you know will eventually be discovered by the Joes and a forensic teams will be brought in and all of a sudden you're not one of the faceless horde anymore...you're known and tracked down and could lead to the fall of your Cobra cell).
I'm not sure why Hasbro is leaving the gloves of some Cobra troopers. It can't be more expensive to paint their hands black instead of flesh tone can it?

I think the gloveless ones are to depict the comic/cartoony look more than anything else. They usually come with the light brown/yellow webgear and red face masks from the comic, so that makes sense.

Okay, I'm gonna go pretty hardcore geek on this...

I see your point about fingerprints. For Cobra operatives under certain conditions, concealing fingerprints makes sense. Covert attacks or actions on enemy territory comes to mind.

On the flipside, for a Cobra soldier pulling another boring shift on Cobra island, why where gloves? In the Marvel/DD continuity, Cobra Island was viewed as its own sovereign nation.

It's okay to set up the ungloved Cobra figures in a diorama. Just pretend they're on Cobra Island being attacked by the Joes. :-D

You bring up a good point. I didn't think about Cobra Island. It still just looks silly to me though to have most with gloves and a few without. Since I don't want to get into all the craziness of the various Vipers in my 25th collection, the ungloved troopers can handle all those technical and maintenance positions (someone has to take out the trash).

I think that sometimes the weather is so hot, that they would prefer not to use the gloves...
Also I think the gloveless ones are to depict the comic/cartoony look more than anything else. They usually come with the light brown/yellow webgear and red face masks from the comic, so that makes sense.
Of course, that is just my opinion.

That is weird, I never noticed before I read this thread. I think the gloveless ones are to depict the comic/cartoony look more than anything else. They usually come with the light brown/yellow webgear and red face masks from the comic, so that makes sense. I might still go ahead and paint all their hands black though, I dont care much for the comic colored troopers anyway. But that is just me.
