Galactichunter hints at it seeing a winter release, but that's assuming anyone decides to carry it. Still, Christmas is by far the best time to get this thing out there, since they'll be a lot more likely to sell the majority at full price. If the $100 price I've heard thrown around is correct though, I think it'll do pretty well. Wasn't the last release of the original mold like $80 bucks? And this thing blows that away.

Price is $150, according to a now-removed Target computer listing.

I hope this goes well for Hasbro, because American collectors are notorious for 'waiting for the inevitable Walmart clearance markdown', particularly Star Wars collectors. You regularly see staff at sites like Galactic Hunter recommending collectors to pay full price for things they actually like if they expect Hasbro to continue to make large, expensive toys.

At 2 1/2 feet long that's going to put it in the same size range as the POTC Black Pearl playset. That right there sells me on finding one and definitely paying full price lest I miss out like I did on the first Black Pearl (got the AWE version with sails).

Yes, this thing will be freaking HUGE. Even as my interest in anything Wars wanes, I still see myself getting this. Even at $150. (Provided of course, that I have that kind of disposable income when it hits.) They may not make playsets the way they used to, but this thing looks like the best box o' fun in years.

I don't have room for it and I don't know when I would, but I gotta get this when it comes out!

Theoretically, you can live inside the toy's box. Store the toy itself in your bedroom.

I'm not sure if that's actually good news, what with the way all my extra money is going to be tired up in helping Indiana Jones fight the communists...

Do we know if it will be released to all the stores or will this be an exclusive of some kind? I've already warned the wife about our living room's new side table. :-D

Hmm. New picture at that gallactic hunter link shows the packaging. Looks like it comes with the recent gunner Han Solo and VOTC Chewie too. Already have that Chewie, but I never did bother with that Han...

At least it's the best Chewie they've made yet. To recreate the scene with the training droid, I think one would need the blast shield helmet from that 1998 Luke figure. I don't believe they ever reused the helmet elsewhere

Gonna be a costly year for Star Wars customers with the $100 AT-TE also out this year, along with any other new vehicles they make for Clone Wars.

I never collected Star Wars, but this thing blows me away. This is the art of toy crafting at its finest. Reminds me of how much care and attention to minute detail they put into the Defiant playset.

Its a hefty price, but I think I'm going to have to get one. Now, can we see a Cobra Transport Plane of similar caliber anytime soon? I can dream...

In other vehicle news, Hasbro is going to release a redeco of the POTJ version of the B-Wing fighter, in a comic-specific colour scheme.

I never owned the Defiant playset, but from what I read, didn't Hasbro neglect to provide adequate structural support for the crawler launch gantry such that the weight of the shuttle could crack the platform?
