I don't shop at WM for paints. Though mine still carries them.

Yeah, its been that way at mine for a while, they have been phasing them out at all the local wal-marts near me. As far as I am aware this is a nationwide thing. Shame too.

Last time I was in the one here (back in the fall) they'd moved the paints/model kits over to the clearance aisles.

I noticed a while ago that TRU stopped carrying both model kits and paints (at least the on here did), and kits almost never seem to move off the shelves at Michaels. I wonder, is the market for model kits fading out? I know they're getting hugely expensive (models I would have gotten when I was a kid for $5-$6 are not $12-$15). Used to be quite a model builder when I was younger...

Typically I dont shop there for paints, but I needed a darker red than what I have since the hobbyshop is 30 min away and I had just gotten off work. I was just really shocked is all, I guess those types of things arent as popular now days. Plus, the hobby shop stopped carrying the awesome import gundams (well, gundams in general) and their model selection was 1/3 the size.

The wal mart in my town has phased them out, and the phase out started immediately after the hobby shop went under. :-/

Yep mine doesn't have any either. Never went on clearance they just disappeared. They still have Apple Barrel paints in the craft section.

I never could use Apple Barrel paints, however if I cant snag a better red color I might have to resort to using those.

Mine have phased them out too. What saddens me even more than that is that Michael's only carries enamel paint now, and Hobby Lobby looks as if they really only worry about their enamels too. While they have a small area for acrylic, the selection is terrible.

I've heard they will be getting rid of fabrics too, and thus all crafts are in danger also.

I had heard that they fabrics were supposed to be gone last year, I know some of the smaller stores did phase it out. However, the two here still have them a nice selection. It looks like the hobby shop here is phasing out a bunch of their paints as well (and what they do carry went up to 3.19 a bottle! Even the online store where I used to get it only carries 3 colors now.
