thanks sgcaper! it is still something i am getting back into slowly and am very happy with how they look. they all scale huge, but so did the first one i made. i guess my eye likes huge blades. the figure is biig compared to my first jason so keeping the blades close to the size of the first one did correct scale, some. the blackened one will go to my 3rd jason who is closer to 4".

instead of getting more pics edited i spent hrs trying to get this "comic" cover just right. i can't seem to get the TH recolored to match. i'm sure i am doing it the hard way. maybe i'll add some effects to bust it up. also trying to figure out how i can cut and paste in my skull/butterfly logo. i miss simple editing tools like i used to add this logo.

still playing with the logo, but i like this a lot. kind of looks like a tattoo on skin.
Image

i fixed the TH, but i had to just re apply text over the first text.
Image

i think i like this version best. no "camp blood" and ghost logo
Image

at some point i'd like to do comic covers for all my favorite customs.

i had to grab my original version and re-do the TH and add my logo again. this is full size. not a big difference until you open in a new window. i just wanted to make sure and get good detail. the light filters already takes a lot of small crisp detail out.

it's slow going on he-mans sword. i started with a steel letter opener and a copper crimp on (lug?) i've had in my tool bag for almost 20yrs.
Image
at 3.5" it is big! that is 5'3" in 1:18! i think the top sword is boss fight, but? not sure. the cast/print is a he-man sword that scales to 1:18 for a 40" power sword.
Image
the bottom sword was the only one i kept that i cast in brass years ago. it was a miscast that i almost worked to death. i guess it will be for skelly.

That is looking great. Any pics with HeMan wielding the sword? That way scale could be compared to the figure?

thanks! i keep holding it up to him. and it is big. i hesitate to start taking pics since he isn't posed and the sword is so far from done. if i do those would probably be the best pics i ever took. seems like every time it really happens that way. when i get it hogged down and thinner it will be ok.....i hope!

i have a bunch of pics with this stand in for size, but i'm having trouble uploading to the internet. still some work to be done, but how does this look?Image
i feel like it is too big, but my he-man is like 6'9" .
Image
next to my other swords for 4" figures it's not that much bigger. it's not even the biggest sword i have made, but i'm going to thin it down some and that will shorten it a little as i go.
Image
maybe a shorter pommel and some contouring on the guard will help too.

here is a pic a few rounds before the current pics. it is the only good one i got of the sword on "stand in" back. the harness is off a tmnt figure.Image
i had several other poses that round, but they are redundant. here is a few more of my current.
ImageImage

he-man with my warduke wip.
Image
and the 1st go at he-man that was just too small
Image

since i dug wd out and still working on this dude here is a side by side

love the evolution of all of these works. And glad to see you still at it on the metal working swords

here is a bunch of custom weapons i've been piecing together. i was thinking i' try and sell them at some point. they are all pretty big. the only metal parts are chains ,wire, and pins.
Image

building off my how to in the jc wiki article on how i use heatshrink here are some pics of my current heat shrink projects and a play by play on how i get texture. i have to use single wall (no glue/2 wall) heatshrink so it isn't a mess. i can shift it around after it cools and reheat as much as i need.
a few pics showing how it shrinks down 2:1 . there is a piece of un shrunk next to each item.
Image
easily slides off
Image
a couple more blades. each has 2 layers of hs and added texture
Image
here the blade and hs is held in my tweezers while i add heat
Image
and here is the textured handle. you can see the rextured tweezer tips too.
Image

these 4 images are all the same machete. i used multiple heatings to get the texture just right. you can see the heatshrink has info written on it, but when shrunk it's not too bad.
Image
ImageImageImage

lastly a couple fantasy type blades. one old and reworked and one new. i used the same type set up on my he-man swords handles. these have "rings" of hs heated. then another full layer over the rings and heated. hopefully it gives the look of a leather covered/wrapped handle.Image
i also added some faint indented lines using my fingernail. this could be deeper or even torn/tattered a bit.

thanks drb! it's harder to get metal weapons done without a torch, but i'm trying to work around it. i had planned on all my motu customs to all have plastic weapons, but getting a few metal knives right gave me the drive to try. when i was a kid it was a he-man sword that i played with most so i guess it is the most important detail to me. if not for chiefs he-men i wouldn't of ever gotten here with mine. i normally feel like whatever i'm working on right now is the best i ever made, which is not always true, but i feel like he-man is so far!

YOUR WORK IS AMAZING! Those weapons are outstanding. Looks like something made in one the "Forged in Fire" episodes
