You can say that all you want, but stylized minifigures move sets just fine for Lego and Minimates and there's still a large Transformers Kre-O fan following hungry for more.

And yet, somehow; there's nobody doing customs in Kreon format of non-Kreon characters; and Lego, MiniMates, and MegaBloks all continue to make money while Kreo lays in smoking ruins. Gosh, could it be that Hasbro brought nothing new to brickplay; that they imitated when they formerly innovated?

Gosh, could it be that Lego, MiniMates and MegaBloks actually have licenses people give a crap about and are relevant? There was nothing more inherently wrong with the Kreon format than the Lego brick figure. But Lego, aside from years of history, has juggernaut licenses like Star Wars and Marvel to bring in non-Brick fans. No one cares about GI Joe. No one cared about Battleship: The Movie. No one cared about Dungeons and Dragons. The only license Kre-O had that had a hope of anything beyond niche appeal was Transformers

If Transformers was their successful license why was it the first one to fold?

There was nothing inherently *better* about the format, either. It was a bare-minimum effort at copying a Lego minifigure with enough more to not get sued.

Hasbro was once the industry leader in innovation, but now they follow trends and repeatedly watch lines die out. The only reason they're leading 6" superheroes is because they stole the Marvel license out from under ToyBiz and continued doing the job those guys invented.

Good job editing your post when you realized I didn't include Transformers in the properties no one cares about. Sadly, although you managed to reread and correct yourself, you failed in your research. Transformers was still releasing Kre-O into 2015. Joe stopped in 2014. D&D only lasted 2014. Trek 2012. We won't touch Battleship. Want to try again?

Picked up one of the new HALO mechs (the flamethrower version) a few weeks ago to possibly use as a S.N.A.K.E. armor. The design is good but the execution is somewhat lacking. Some of the joints are loose, at least on mine. I might be able to make something out of it when I get some time. But we're still recovering from comic-con costume prep in our hobby room.

Also put together the Kodiak Siege Cannon. Its smaller than I expected. I originally wanted to make a classic Rolling Thunder out of it but I'm most likely going to have to make some significant design changes. It'll still have that same feel but won't be a straight classic conversion.

I picked up the Sparrow S-10V set to give Destiny stuff a taste.

My only complaint is that I really wish MB would label the packaging so I know WTF I'm buying, without having to look up character names and a basic plotline.

The speeder bike is cool, but is fairly spindly and will need some superglue to hold together long-term, the Shank drone less so but I'll probably do it anyway.

The Hunter is coolness, but the star of the set is the Fallen Captain, imho. The upper pair of arms plug into a piece that sits down on a regular torso's neck so swappable customizing should be easy if you're so inclined. The only negatives on him are that the back of his helmet comes down so far it hits against his cloak collar, limiting his head movement; and that the cloak itself is fairly stiff unlike the Hunter's fabric one. I might replace it, or maybe use his ultra-keen helmet for an 18th custom.

I had avoided buying any of those because I didn't need any 4-arms. Knowing it's a standard torso, I may have to get some now - especially because I think that head would make a great base for Mer-Man and Stinkor.

No, but maybe Hasbro will with something that's not a lame-ass Johnny-Come-Lately imitation.

I didn't fail in my research so much as fail to pay attention to weak product - just like the majority of the market.

Damn, NeoSapiens would indeed be perfect. Tell me you're fabbing up brick ExoFrames!

I hadn't planned on it before seeing these, but I'm thinking I might now.
