I won't speak for a consensus, but I definitely agree with that statement.

Well my Walmart has done nothing for its miniscule Star Wars section.
All that is left is Stormtrooper Han for full price.

They still have 2 weeks until the release of the new product.I'm sure it will be there in droves.

The gulf between collector figures and kid aimed figures has widened so much that I've lost interest in collecting. Expensive, often fragile figures vs. 5 POA with increasingly terrible paint ops and sad, sad gimmicks to inflate the prices.

Apologists said Star Wars 5 POA was to keep prices affordable for kids and parents...yet, now Hasbro has the raised the prices on basic to $7 or $8, episode 7 "armor series" reported at an appalling $13 and the two packs that were a nice $10, IIRC will be soon be $15. That's a 50% increase.

Maybe they'll justify the price increase with the cost of the new actor's likeness rights and other corporate bs, you know, like they did for the GI Joe movies.

I don't know if kids really dig the Imaginext like armors and build a weapon gimmick, but in my opinion, it's a waste of plastic.

Have said similar things in the past, regarding death of the Joe line and such, but I am enjoying the lack of retail product that is worth a damn. Makes immersion into customizing even more rewarding.

Honestly I think the New Sculpt era fits this definition better. While the construction is very similar to ARAH, changes were made to make the figures more durable. Sure most of the sculpts sucked, but there were a lot less broken thumbs and crotches than with ARAH.

That a horrid-looking figure will stick around longer doesn't seem like much of a benefit to me.

Toward the later years of the New Sculpt era the proportions had improved. Maybe if they'd stuck with building on what they had going instead of switching to 25th Anniversary style, but we'll never know.

The 2000+ RAH figures with softer forearms were great and the thumbs didn't break.

some of the new sculpt was good and yeah it was later in the years to fix better proportion issues
