I know a lot of you have expansive workshops and other setups wherein space isn't an issue. I, however, live in an apartment and thus need to make as much as possible out of the space I have. One of my major problems has always been storing my fodder and spare accessories. I have bought several little tupperware organizer drawers and screw drawers, but they fill up fast, take up a bunch of space, and can get kind of pricey after awhile.

So I was looking on http://www.instructables.com (one of my favorite websites) and found this:

http://www.instructables.com/id/Ultimate-Parts-Storage/

I wondered how it would work for my custom fodder, so I went out and bought some envelope folders (I bought velcro ones since I didn't know how well this was going to work, and the zipper ones are more expensive) and two binders. Turns out, it works great. All of my fodder is now in once place (instead of divided between several storage drawers throughout my apartment) and fits on one bookshelf. The only advice I can add is to get the biggest binders you can (I think 2" was as big as I could find). Just thought I'd pass this along, just in case anyone else was having space issues.

I just go to AC Moore and buy a few of those plastic 'Bead Caddies' when they have them at 1/2 price.

The boxes are 10.5 inches long by 7.25. They are divided into three rows of six, with two of the sections opened together for longer parts.

Normally costing $1.99, buying them at a $1 is rather cheap. I know they are available in a translucent pink or blue, but I prefer the clear versions.

I have about 13 of them, with a couple of empties

#1 Heads (each section can hold about 20 heads)

#2 Arms (each section holds about 20 pairs of arms)

#3 Legs w/waist (each section holds 6-8 sets of legs with o-ring, matching waists in adjacent section)

#4 Legs (each section holds 6-8 pirs of leg, no waist pieces though)

#5 Cobra Torsos (each section holds 6-8 torsos depending on size)

#6 GIJOE Torsos (each section 6-8 torsos depending on size)

#7 Waists/Thighs (each section holds 15+ waists or thighs)

#8 Misc Weapons/Helmets/Shields/etc (one section has Payload's rocket pack)

#9 Cast Parts (heads and torsos)

#10 :og13: Parts

#11 Feet/t-Hooks/New Sculpt Stuff/Modded Stuff/Unmatched Parts (missing, broken, no screws, etc)

#12 New Sculpt stuff/Broken Arms/Misc

#13 bbi weapons

I store my o-rings, screws, modded parts, painted stuff, etc in various boxes.

On my desk I have a few of the plastic inserts from the BTR vehicles. These are great for holding all the parts of a current project or as a catch-all for stuff going back into the other boxes.

I have a few of those, but they take up quite a bit of space, too. This was I can fit all of my fodder and accessories into three 2" binders.

while looking for other things, i found this place:

http://www.proskit.com/cgi-bin/proskit/ ... Boxes.html

those storage boxes are a little less pricey than i've found in stores, no super bargain there -- however,
when i find them in stores, they are usually broken or sold out...

btw, what i was checking out on that site was the tabletop lighted magnifying lamp --

seems like a decent buy for $34...
