Between the 2 movie franchises, which are you going to army build?

You have the choice of Pit Commandos and the Ultimate Duke.

For me, I'm building up for the movie accurate Ultimate Duke which has the upgraded up-to-date body armor and equipment as opposed to the urban look and the outdated equipment of the RoC Pit Commando. Id rather sell my Pit Commandos and be up to date.

How about you guys?

I'm using ultimate Duke as RedSpot. He'll never get an official modern update and some of the details on the Duke figure are really close to elements on RS.

I still like the PIT Commando, have 20 which most were bought for $5 each from various sales. I doubt I'd get that many of Ultimate Duke, so I'm shooting for 5 unless they miraculously go sale, then I'd get more.

Ultimate Duke. The balaclava makes it more anonymous, and I don't like the idea of anyone other than the Steel Brigade using SB helmets. My enthusiasm will depend on how many I can find, but a bunch of him will be a god complement to my other "good guy" army builders, the Retaliation Joe Trooper. There aren't any good generic military figures that mesh stylistically with the Joe figures these days, so the Joe Troopers are simply what regular Army is equipped with these days. Probably use Ultimate Duke as Marines (and on a mostly unrelated note, Ultimate Flint as Bullhorn). I figure with as much advanced gear as there is floating around the Joe-world it's not too out of line for the Joe Troopers to be non-specialized troops.

Did not answer because If I was going to Army build for the Joe team it would be Steel Brigades from all genres.

I "use" the Pit Commando as a different fighting force.
I see them as private security or Military Contractors.

I have a hard time using the ROC uniforms as U.S. Military. Maybe U.N. forces, maybe an urban security force, or MP unit (especially if mixing in some of the ROC Zartan figures), maybe even the military of a fictional nation.

But given the hint of blue, and given the look of the Cobra Troops in Retaliation, I also have to think they'd make a decent look for Cobra, in some form.

So - for Joes - Definitely Ultimate Duke.

We always complain about too many Dukes, now we all want to troop build them. (myself included) Hasbro has a tough job.

Most Duke figures don't have a generic extra head sculpt that was intended to make the figure an army builder if desired.

Maybe this is them smartening up and figuring out how to make figures move. I hope its wildly successful so we can get more extra heads in the future. Especially with the characters that get multiples per case and that we all have many versions of. An extra head on Roadblock that does not look anything like The Rock would be pretty awesome and get me to buy a couple more for instance.

The Pit Commando is one of the last figures I remember buying before my hiatus (the other being Paris Pursuit Baroness) and they were at that time only my 5th and 6th new sculpt purchases. Right now if I could (reasonably) get more I would, and I admit due to a lack of net access (other than my phone which is at best limited) I haven't seen the Ultimate Duke, but really my army building choice is DG Duke (14 at last count). I actually prefer the old style look it has for my generic troops and the head really doesn't scream Duke to me.
