It's just fun.
Like some sort of globetrotting supertechy team of Indiana Joneses.

In part this is true for me as well, but truly I loved the Adventure team figures.
IMO you youngsters here missed out on the golden age of action figures the mid to late 1970's.

There were more action figure lines then you could possible want. Mego soooo many different megos, Big Jim, Joes ( GI, AT, Super ) Johnny West, Action Jackson, Micronaughts, Lone Ranger, Bionic Man etc...etc...etc... AND I MISS EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE LINES.

I agree with you 100% on this, man those were some great lines.

Imagination has a lot to do with it.
The Adventure Team characters weren't defined except for their basic role and even then, a simple change of uniform and gear and your pilot could become a diver or a spy and the sets of equipment were easy to combine to start any adventures.
It was wide opened so once you started your adventure you didn't know how it would end.

It's a bit why also love Playmobil, generic figures and sets and you "build" your own cast and story.

All this stuff, and they've given General Joe leadership of the Joe Team, linking him to Adventure team.

I'd love a 3 3/4 Man of Evil. Also my mom first got me Joes because she remembered her brothers playing with Joes and Adventure Team.

Years back when the comic introduced Joe and Jane to GI Joe team I hoped that they would do a split off book with the continued adventures of AT. Sadly that did not occur.

I hold out hope that we'll get AT in the future. If trends repeat themselves and everything old is new again why not with action figures?

I grew up in the 1970s in the UK with Action Man which had similar themes to AT and some of the same sets and figures: Mike Powers, Bullet Man, Intruder, etc. I wish I still had a lot of the figures and outfits. I had some of the repackaged sets like the deep sea diver, mountaineer and arctic dog sled. Still feel a lot of nostalgia for these. That is why I did the Foreign Legion, Grenadier Guard and RCMP customs at the end of last year. When I come off hiatus, I have a long list of AT/Action Man/GI Joe customs to make, some I have started already.

My parents would let me fill the bath with water and I would go deep sea treasure hunting with the deep sea diver and have him fight off the shark. Used to have hours of fun.

It's interesting, I use the Adventure Team differently than a lot of people, and my reason for liking them is different as well. I don't use them as freelance adventurers, that's just their cover. The team is a DoD covert ops unit masquerading as adventurers/explorers in order to gain access to parts of the world they might not be able to otherwise. A smaller, more direct precursor to the Joe team of the 80s. A stepping stone between GI Joe the individual and GI Joe the team. And that's why I like them, they're a pretty blank slate that fits in nicely in an unexplored era of the Joe timeline, and the continuity nut in me loves that. In the era the Adventure Team was active (I see them as disbanding in the late 70s) you have a bunch of characters who came into the ARAH run pretty much fully formed, Kwinn, Dr. Venom, Destro, Cobra Commander, Storm Shadow, Firefly, Zartan, etc, running around, becoming what they are. Prequels are tough to keep interesting, you always know where the characters are going to end up but with the existing Adventure Team characters, and the various characters from the early days of ARAH, there's a lot of story potential. More so considering that of the Adventure Team proper, only Colton and Jane have appeared since, leaving the fates of the rest of the team totally up in the air.

SInce Hasbro said that they left the zombies in the vault until they knew what to do with them, I think that it would be a cool theme for the Adventure Team without turning the whole franchise into Zombie Hunters.

Either a scientific experiment gone wrong or the curse of an old voodoo sorcerer, the Adventure Team could be dispatched to a remote island to investigate...
