OK, so I've been out of the loop for about a year or so... and suddenly the new figures start popping up. But with so many version of each character, I'm at a loss as to which to buy. I swear, the Joe line is slowly turning into a Batman or Spider-Man line with multiple versions of Snake Eyes and Roadblock and Storm Shadow each with different gimmicks. But I', just after the DEFINITIVE versions of each.

So which ones to buy?

So far I've only decided to get the black Cobra Commander and the new 3packs with Mouse and the definitive vintage Firefly.

Should I get the single carded Firefly that's out now? And the single carded Roadblock? Which movie Snake Eyes should I get?

Tough question, but to simply answer it, just get the ones that you like or the ones that appeal to you, i seem to be feeling the same way, so i only get what i want to get and what i like and what appeals to me.

The 3 packs are both solid in my opinion. I would pass on the single carded Firefly unless you really want the road luge thing. His forearms light up....and it sounds like you don't want gimmicks. Lady Jaye is great in my opinion, her accessories are awesome. The rest are just up to what you like.

So by definitive, do you mean movie-accurate?

The second-wave Snake Eyes is the film-accurate one. He's got layered body armor and a large sword scabbard that pegs into a larger backpack.

Storm Shadow's movie attire is the same as the first film... The Storm Shadow in the 3-pack with vintagey Firefly fits the bill best.

Roadblock's getting an "ultimate figure" release that's as film-accurate as possible, featuring his short sleeves, his arm tattoo and his big ma deuce. It's not out yet.

If you want the film-accurate Firefly, it's not out yet. The current Firefly available lacks double-knee, ankle and wrist articulation, and the jacket is far from film-accurate.

Yes, definitive as in accurate to the source material and with the least gimmicks (or the most onobtrusive gimmicks).

So it looks like I have to wait for almost all the characters except Snake Eyes and Cobra Commander.

How many tanktop Roadblocks are out now? I have the one from the 3pack but I've been seeing some single carded ones as well.

I've seen this in Fwoosh threads about Marvel movies, but I'm wondering why its so important to get movie-accurate versions from a movie you haven't seen? What if this flick is worse than Twilight? Why risk focusing so much on this issue when it could burn you, plus has the specific goal of excluding you from getting plain-old good action figures?

It can't be worse than Twilight. It's got ninjas. Twilight didn't have ninjas.

While not movie accurate, wave 1's Storm Shadow is awesome.
Great articulation and his costume looks like a very modern take on the "traditional" ninja uniform.
His little back sword holder is neat too. Plus he's like super easy to find, even Ebay sellers sell that figure for probably less than what they paid.

Well Storm Shadow already does, but I have a feeling that has more to do with my mancrush on him than with the actual films. :-P

Tank top roadblock was also done in the amazon pack and on single card, as well as the 3 pack.

I would say the coolest are the 3 packs and then the joe trooper from wave 1, red ninja, alley viper, and black dragon ninja.

I've been impressed with the Cyber-Ninja, the Dark Ninja, and the Alley-Viper. Even if they aren't in the movie, they're cool army-builders. So is the G.I. Joe Trooper if you can find him. The Cobra Invasion three-pack, while I wasn't as impressed with the Storm Shadow, certainly features the ultimate modern-style Firefly that seriously looks like the original, and the new Cobra Invasion Trooper is also impressive. And you can get the three-pack for $20, which is a good bit less than three individual figures would cost these days.
