If I might briefly return to this topic...

Look at this guy:

Awesome, isn't he?

Now observe the Reach version:

It's like some Bungie exec told the designers "cool work guys, but you know what this one really needs for the bold new vision of Reach? A really thick, bunchy snowsuit under that armour. Oh yeah, and make sure his feet are smaller than his hands."

Yeah, while the armor designs look ok on the non-Spartans, the bodies are just too bulky and "Randy from A Christmas Story"-esque.

Yes, and the oddly-shaped, uncontoured plates slapped on the anatomy at various intervals don't help.

I actually really like the Spartan designs though. The rather "thick" aesthetic of Reach actually works for them as it makes them look more like they're actually wearing a powered, armoured carapace, rather than a somewhat haphazard set of unpowered armour over a textured rubber bodysuit.

Was at Toys R Us yesterday and saw the unmasked Jorge figure along with armor accessory armor packs. First thing I realized was the chest pieces are swappable, which I didn't notice before somehow. Alas, they only had red and orange for the armor packs (I'm pretty sure it was this guy.) I think they were selling for $9.99.

Not at TRU. They have their stuff at the typical jacked-up price of $16, while Target has theirs at (I believe) $10.99.

I picked up the Noble 6/Mongoose set today and noticed the fixed the knees on him. He can now bend his legs closer to 90 degs now. I'm wondering/hoping if all the Spartans will be fixed from now on. I also grabbed the new marine (ugh) and the updated Brute, which has improved articulation over previous Brutes. He just can't hold his stupid spiker. Target has a pretty cool exclusive red (of course) EVA that I would have grabbed if it was green, gray, or black.

I'm definitely thinking of picking up that Noble 6/Mongoose pack. Figured it would be a good way to get Noble 6, as I missed out the first time.

Well, at least with the mongoose set, you get a more accurate 6, plus "Cortana".

With ThreeA getting the Halo license, do you think we'll finally get some 3 3/4" figures?

Who are ThreeA, and should I care that they've apparently got the MicroNauts license?

ThreeA makes upscale designer toys a la HotToys. I doubt they'll do anything mass market or affordable. And I doubt they'll be any where near 1:18 scale.

I found a use for my old Noble 6. I just got the rocket pod/JFO Spartan set, so I stole the head off that ugly blue/gray JFO to put on the 6 body which is the same color gray. I now have a gray/silver JFO which looks pretty sweet. I just need some JFO shoulder armor for him.

NECRO POST!

I've been on a big Halo kick lately (read through a bunch of the novels in December, played Halo 4 and replayed Halo 3), so I've been picking up some figures here and there. I got the Halo Anniversary Cortana and Capt. Keyes on clearance at Wal-Mart. I also picked up "The Package" Master Chief, which is a great figure. Probably my favorite representation of the character that McFarlane has done. And I like the whole "build a shield/emblem" thing they did with the Anniversary figures.

I'm not super impressed from what I've seen of the Halo 4 figures, but I'll definitely get a Lasky when that comes out this winter.

I have the Anniversary Cortana and it's a nice figure. But the Halo 4 Cortana blows it away in comparison. The larger base and swappable hand w/ control panel are great. And the paint job just looks better to me than the Anniversary version.

The Halo 4 Spartans aren't doing much for me though. They're at a smaller scale than the Reach figures for some reason but slightly larger than the Halo 3 figures which baffles me. Why McFarlane can't stick with a scale in this line I do not know.

I like the touch screen and base that she comes with, but I'm not a huge fan of the head and paint job.

And McFarlane keeps switching the scale because they hate us :(

Which Master Chief figure is closest to Joe scale?
