If memory serves, the JUNGLE B.A.T. was one of the scarcer "army builders" in recent memory. The only one I'd ever seen was at a local collectibles shop.

So I was pleasantly surprised today when I saw one at a Walgreens pharmacy! Walgreens want $9.99 for him, which is about the same price everybody else has been charging for Joes lately.

Also saw the Steel Brigade Trooper, and Blowtorch.

Too bad you're so tight on funds, you coulda got one. Sorry dude.

Yeah, with some help from some friends, I scored a Jungle B.A.T. quite a while back, and did review him.

Personally, I'd like to see more specialized B.A.T.s. The Decepticon/Constructicon B.A.T. from the San Diego ComiCon Shockwave HISS Tank set, and the Club's Nano-B.A.T., definitely impress me.

But this was the first time I'd seen a Jungle B.A.T. at local retail levels.

Which version of the Steel Brigade was it? The Shock Trooper or Snake-eyes body?

If its the PoC card it'd be the Shock Trooper body. And have the painted shovel on the backpack.

I couldn't tell you which body, since I don't follow the modern-style figures closely enough to discern that. It was, however, on the POC card.

Pricing apparently varies wildly, too. These figures were $9.99 here in Tucson. A friend of mine in southern California reported that the Walgreens out there wanted $16.00 for them. Sheesh!

The Walgreens nearest me won't restock Joe, unfortunately. There's a Rite-Aid downtown, but they charge $15 per figure :/

I found a Jungle BAT at a Walgreens on Saturday, along with a Cobra Trooper. I passed on the Trooper (I have plenty of the POC/30th version already), but I did get the BAT.

Swung by my Walgreen's again. They had a new joe! POC Blowtorch (red/yellow). I bought him. He sucks.

Lets hope they keep coming!

I had a jungle bat and liked the look of him, but when I realized I wouldn't likely be able to acquire the 4 I'd need to meet my troop building requirements, I sold him (and got enough to buy three more of the new-style troopers).

After post-rationalizing it more, the idea of environmentally specialized BATs seems inconsistent with Cobra's demonstrated tactics. Cobra doesn't want these things to blend into their surroundings. They want the enemy to see them coming and have that demoralizing "Aw, crud!" moment.

When Cobra wants stealth for its attacks, it'll send a team of ninjas, dressed in shoot-me red, led by another ninja in a bright white outfit.
