Had a lunch bag I took to school that they all lived in. Never broke 30 or so Joes at any given time since I occasionally got rid of Joes who didn't make the cut. Jetpack General Hawk got given away because 86 Leather Jacket General Hawk was still cooler, even though he was much older.

my dad worked at a small warehouse and always brought cool cigar boxes home so i had all my stuff in cigar boxes. my childhood toys had the crap beat out of them, i had a blue cigar box i use to put a couple cobras in it and set it in the middle of the yard and throw darts at the box like missles until the box would get knocked over or the lid came open somehow, then they were dead.

1975 12" Footlocker bought at a flea market. I just don't recall who got it for me.

before my collection grew too big to handle, i used to put the figures on display on a semi-dollhouse/mission base...

when it grew bigger, i left the figures on display, and kept the accessories on vehicle boxes...

when it grew bigger still, i kept everything on plastic bags, one per figure...

until i got myself a display shelf, where they're all displayed since then.

A humpty dumpty potato chip holiday can for figures and weapons. It was about a foot and a half high and a foot across. Great for lugging over to friends houses. vehicles went on stackable shelves. The HQ was on the dresser.

Then the weapons got too hard to find like that. So the figures went in two large ice cream buckets. One for the Joes and one for the Cobras and Dreadnoks. All the weapons went into index card boxes.

I had a toy room as a child and one wall was lined with shelves. I displayed all my figures on the shelves along with many of the small or medium sized vehicles. When my parents moved I lost a toy room but had shelves built in my bedroom where I displayed all my figures, and vehicles were stored in the basement.

I had a big toybox that all the figures went in. I had a closet with shelves that had all the vehicles displayed.

In the footlocker, as most did in the '60's. Though Captain Action and Action Boy kept vigil on my telescope.

The figures were all kept in one big toy box. When I was ten years old, I started using a couple of these:

Vehicles were stored on shelves.

I had drawers under my bed that I laid my figures in on their backs in rows. There was a small cardboard box that had the accessories and such.

I stored them in the yard by and large. Sadly, I think the kids next door stole them all. I think they got all of our 84-86 Joe figures, but I could never prove it.

My Dad brought home a wooden box from work. I think it was a leftover shipping crate. It's about 16" wide, 12" deep, and 12" tall. Together we put a hinged lid on top and handles on each side, I painted that sucker blue inside and out with some leftover paint that Dad also retrieved from work and it handled my whole childhood and I still have here in sight of me now. My whole figure collection fit in that box weapons and all. It traveled with me to my Granny's house, outside, and anywhere else I needed joes. It made a great wrestling ring on top, a cave when laying on its side, or just some nondescript wall to hide behind when the battle raged. Come to think of it, its probably my favorite GI Joe possession.

This was very cool.

That wooden box sounded awesome!

I used the 1984 APC for the Joes and the Hiss II for my cobra as I din't own too many figures as a kid.

As my Joe collection grew, my mom let me take over the den...there were three huge bookcases on one wall filled with books...on top of those I lined up my Tomahawk, Dragonfly, Mamba, Phantom X-19, Conquest, Night Raven and Skystriker. The other side of the room had a computer desk that I lined the top with my AWE, Mauler, HAVOC, HISS, RAM, Warthog, Devilfish and WHALE. The back corner of the room had my Terrordome in the floor with the Firebat ready to launch.

As far as storage for my figures, weapons, etc...we had a pool growing up and my dad cleaned out two large plastic buckets that were originally full of chlorine used in the pool. I dumped all my joes in one and all my cobras in the other.
