I want that Dice figure! How the hell am I supposed to overpay for him on ebay if the FSS never launches for a subscriber to get it to turn around and sell it?

Ironically, that is exactly what is going to happen for many. The pattern has now been established: [LASER BLAST] about Dial-Tone figure, how better to customize one, etc, etc., then after it's released, start paying $300-$500 for it carded. Same thing going on now with Footloose, although prices are still a bit lower. I expect it'll be the exact same with Iceberg, and Big Boa, and Cover Girl, and Dice.

As my skills have improved and I've gotten more comfortable customizing in this format, I just make a character myself if I can't get the official version for a reasonable price. For example, I like the recipe for the club's Voltar and would buy it for a reasonable price, but since that isn't going to happen anytime soon, I'm just going to make my own instead which I have done for other characters as well and usually end up far more pleased than I would be with the official ones.

Well, I DO like that they're doing something to prepare for another wave while they're getting their situation taken care of. You know, instead of sitting around, waiting for everything to be resolved before doing any planning for the next release.

Jinx is sold out, and Dice only has 2 available. Looks like they are planning on getting at least 79 subscriptions.

Can't believe I had Jinx. That desire vanished away quickly and efficiently.

They were thinking about wave 2 last year. David Lane said they had a list of figures they were planning for wave 2 when I talked to him at SDCC in 2011. Its just now after JoeCon when they publicly said something that folks are picking up on it.

Now that it appears that the first subscription will become reality, and it also sounds like the Transformers subscription is progressing, I'm glad that the Club was already preparing for wave 2. Hopefully this means there won't be a long delay for it once the first wave concludes.

Hopefully wave 2 is an overwhelming majority of figures I will not want!

I bit the bullet and bought in today.

I know I want a little more than half the figures, and half of those bay enough that the price doesn't bug me (for those). And of the ones I don't want, I'm fairly certain there are others who do (in some cases badly). So I'm reasonably confident I can recoup a respectable percentage of my cost.

But the deciding factor was this eerie feeling that the 13th figure is going to be something everybody will want, including me.

And when Kwinn the Eskimo gets announced, I'd rather be one of the ones jumping for joy.

the recent club email turned me off to it.

Sorry, but #6:

"The figures will be shipped in random order. All members receive the same figures each month. The figure pairings will not be preannounced. So if you don’t mind, when you get your shipment each month, PLEASE do not go online and tell what you received. We want each shipment to be a surprise for as many members as possible."

Just come out & say it: you don't want people blocking payments after they get the 3 or 4 figures they want.

Of course they don't want that happening. Committing to an order and then cancelling after it's been produced is a pretty douchey thing to do, in any case. Probably wouldn't be an issue if Joe fandom, in general, weren't notorious cheapskates.

Actually, that wont happen. You either pay in full right up front or pick the 3 payment method. And they start right away and the next 2 months for the other payments. You should be paid in full by the time the first wave ships.
