With the Avengers toy line finally adopting the logical and way more practical horizontal hip peg, I had hopes for the future Marvel movie lines like the upcoming amazing Spider-Man.

Turns out that in a line mainly composed of T-crotch figures, the only ultra poseable figure sports the old movie hip ball joints with the angled peg. Bummer. Double jointed elbows and knees, ball jointed wrists, rocker ankles, but lame hip articulations that are a pain to play with.

Seems like the MU Spider-Man will remain at the top for a while.

I'm not a huge fan of the hips, but I'm okay with them. I don't like the tiny head. I also hate the silver booties, though that appears to be movie accurate. Even with all of that, it's still the most fun Spider-Man toy I've ever owned.

What's the torso artic like? The same as the movie lines as well, a pop'em ball-n-cup that doesn't give a lot of ROM nor eases swappability?

I forgot to post this in the Avengers thread, and it's probably an afterthought at this point, but you know what other figure has the horrid movie hips? Black Widow. I opened one to ship to a trading partner, and found that the hips had their ball-joint posts inserted vertically. I didn't try to pose the figure at all, but it looked like the range of motion was pretty limited. I didn't realize that they were still trotting that style of joint out, but it looks like it's still lurking in a few figures.

They're not as bad on the Black Widow as on previous figures, since they don't sit as deeply in the socket. Range of motion is great too, she can sit down, which is more than even some of the new style designs can do. The Spidey is a disappointment though. Wasn't this figure released at last years SDCC though? The fact that it was designed over a year ago might be why it has the old style of articulation.

As much as I hate the movie hips, I'll say that they actually work a little better on the Spidey figure. He's able to get into pretty sweet poses, except for a wide leg stance.

The poses are neat, but the movement of the legs ain't fluid.
Twist here and twist there. Every time I scratch my head and wonder why they simply can't use the same awesome GIJoe articulations.

Because this is this property and this is that property. They can't mix. It would be the end of the world.

I actually think i would prefer the avengers hips and thigh swivel, as long as everything else was joe-ticulation.

Well even the Avengers hips are better.

I got a comic Spider-Man from the new toy series yesterday and I like it. It looks awesome. Sure it doesn't have articulated ankles or wrists and it has a boring t-crotch, but it kind of reminds me of the good time I had playing with my Secret Wars Spidey as a kid. Little me would've love this new figure. Ball jointed elbows and knees and it's the right size to mix with the Joes.

I must have nostalgia goggles on to like it so much. :rotfl:
