I don't know why, but I really like this figure. Not as Overkill, mind you, but he's just such a fun figure design. I really wish we could've seen what Hasbro had intended to actually do with this version. This is another version I'd love to see Hasbro revisit with modern construction and the missing components. I know it'd just be a 1/18 version of the Sigma Six design, but I'd still love to see it. So, anyone else like this figure?

Definitely one of the best from that era. The holes in the head and back are certainly mysterious remnants of abandoned concepts. That is one we should really try to uncover, but I have no doubt that it is just a similar contraption to the S6 design or a bacta tank type thing as in the cartoon.

I love how they used standardized shoulder pegs to make swappable parts. To me, that kind of standardization that allows kids (and customizers) the chance to make their toys interact is the very key reason for kids to buy more and more. It makes them more tools for the imagination when there are countless options/possibilities.

I thought that was a great design. For me Overkill is always evolving, so this works as he becomes more of a 'bot.

I loved this design, and it was one of my favorites from the NS era.

I thought it was sort of cool. Has a robocop vibe.

Definitely a Robocop feel. I always pretended the Overkill occasionally disguised himself as a human within the Cobra organization. So when the new sculpt version came out and he was a cyborg I obviously dug that concept. The version 6 and 7 really was a fantastic design, much more machine than man. The best part was that is was just slightly more improved than the new incarnation of the BAT that was also part of that BAT Attack set.

Robocop Overkill didn't quite work for me, even though I tend to like the sci-fi elements more and it was a logical progression from the initial JvC version. I definitely liked that initial JvC version really well, which I feel had enough of a sci-fi angle to work within the Joe context without going too far.

It probably didn't help that I didn't like the Sigma 6/Sky BAT design much, as I felt they were too generic and didn't really have a BAT aesthetic to them.

I thought he was awesome. I didn't really care for the suddenly cyborg version in the NS era, but this version really sold the character to me. Both Overkill and the Sky BAT are figs I still on display with my 25th, ROC,POC and 30th. I think they are the only NS I still display.

I agree that it'd be awesome to find out what was planned for these figures in terms of accessories and interchangeability, even if it'll never happen.

I dug the first DDP design much more, but the mechy one def has his attractions.

However, I pretty much *hate* all the varieties of BAT we got during the Suck Era, simply because you have to be the biggest moron on the planet to try to sell me a GI Joe fig without swivel-arm battle grip. WTF were they thinking by taking out the hindarm swivel? There were occasional instances of good work during that period, but it's easily a big disappointing waste of time and effort overall compared to what came before and after.

I agree, that sucked. And concept-wise, they forgot that androids were supposed to be human like, instead they kept making them less human like. BAT V1 was versatile (it could operate vehicles, hold regular guns/tools), by BAT MK5, they were reduced to being walking guns.

The swappable arms on Overkill V7 and the BAT MK5 were a worthwhile idea, but the pegs wore so much after snapping and unsnapping that they inevitably got loose shoulder joints (and waists).
