You know what I find funny about reviews like these? ARAH figures are no better.

I agree with Redmao in that these are still fun toys. The price per is a little high, but that just means I'm far more choosy.

the trooper has rocker ankle articulation! His feet can be posed in all kinds of unique positions.

Indeed! He also has the new wrists! However it could be that the paint has the joints sticking a bit. Try heating it up with a hair dryer just to be safe that you won't break it.

Yeah, he's got the joints, they're just above the cuffs of the pants!

They weren't mad at you for stopping by the toy section before heading to your department? 8-O

Grabbed the ninja 3 pack and a Rock figure. I was going to hold out for a later wave Rock figure but with the delay I got one as a "present" for my wife. :shifty: Unfortunately she wants to keep in MOC.

The Red Ninja is awesome as expected. Snake Eyes is pretty good but still not topping v54 in my books. Storm Shadow is surprisingly fun. I'm still not thrilled with this look for him but the figure itself is well designed and I really do like the foldable compound bow.

No troopers, CC Zartan, or other 3 pack at this Target. So at least one other person is cherry picking the line. Duke was the clear peg warmer/overpacked.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the Fang Boat was the only vehicle on the shelf. Just one.

They were putting out a full stock of stuff today at Target. It was like the movie was about to hit. I even saw a kid freaking out when he saw the stuff and right away grabbed a Ghost Hawk saying to his friend/brother (whatever he was) that he was getting that. He was excited.

It was tons of stuff. I got an extra Red Ninja and a GIJoe trooper to bring my "army building" to 2 as I was figuring on stopping at. I have 2 Cobra Troopers and was on the fence about getting another since they had so many. I ended up putting it back due to the convention and needing to be reserved on spending. If there are still any that exist after the con, I'll grab it then. I had considered having 3 of them, but really 2 should be enough since they're not that amazing.

You're more than welcome to think that, but IMO this version of SE tops v54. It's like ROC/Resolute Snake-Eyes except with a more realistic top, with a cool webgear and light weaponry, perfectly suitable for a commando who equips lightly and relies on his natural skill more than hardware.
IMO SEv54 was just too overloaded, two huge swords in huge sheaths, guns and knives scarrered across and some heavy webgear. This new Snake-Eyes tops it by keeping it a lot simpler.

His look kind of reminds me of a lot of figures in the JvC/ST/VvV era, where the designers just didn't seem like they had any clear goal in a final look and just tacked on things they thought looked cool.
It's not bad by any means, though, and I freaking LOVE the deco.
And yeah. The compound bow is rockin'.

Kinda bummed my area is still lacking the bigger vehicles. I don't even get the chance to consider the HISS tank. :-/

If you take the webgear that comes with 3-pack Beach-Head or 3-pack Snake-Eyes and stick it on SE v54, it makes for a pretty [LASER BLAST]' figure. It makes a nice homage to VvV SE. Also, the black knee-pads and hands from the Steel Brigade figure add a nice amount of flair to the 3-pack Beach-Head ;-)

Honestly, the 3-pack Snake-Eyes is a fine homage to the VvV version all on its own. ;)

I don't think I'd judge a figure on accessory load alone. I know some people like to only have what the figure could carry, but I like options. So a full compliment of weapons for a character like Snake Eyes will never be a detraction for me.

However, with the 3 pack Snake Eyes, you're dead on about this being a good balance of weapons for him. What makes 54 better than this particular version for me is how it nails the ninja commando aspect. Still military looking, but also GI Joe ninja-tastic. The Retaliation version is designed to favor the more ninja aspect of the character. From a figure perspective they made him more streamlined. He looks a little skinny to me which is in contrast to Ray Parks squat bulky appearance in the trailers as Snake Eyes. I think your comparison with the Resolute version of Snake Eyes is a good one. The shoulder armor and knee pads along with the simpler look gives an obvious nod to that design.

All in all it is a good figure that some people who don't want yet another Snake Eyes will be surprised by if they should come across one. It sports the rocker ankles which is always a plus in my book. It is up there as one of my favorite versions.

Clearly, the correct answer is Snake Eyes v22.

Snake Eyes v22. Who would've thought?

The blue/grey/green JvC mold Snake-Eyes from the Ninja Battles set? O.o

Also, is it just me, or does the Roadblock in the 3-pack sport a different, more Rock-accurate headsculpt?
I swear the jaw and cheek structure on the 3-pack figure is different, and ressembles Dwayne Johnson more.

Really, I can't recommend the 3-packs enough. IMO they're the best figures that have been released thus far in Retaliation.

I've only grabbed the Cobra Trooper and the Rockblock 3 pack. Haven't opened it yet.

I agree, I believe the 3-pack Roadblock has a different, more accurate head sculpt. Hopefully they will release it without the face paint.

I'm thinking now it might be the head from the "Battle Kata" Roadblock figure on the body of the single-carded version.
