I have a few...

I got these in an auction, that I didn't even see them, or completely ignored their presence, so many good memories. Some of these I've never seen even as a kid.

Anyone like catalogs..?

man, the hours spent staring...

Very nice, I loved them back in the day. My bro and I would spend many hours looking at and fantasizing about all the cool stuff we would play when the new toys come out. So many good memories.

Some of them had real nice photography and artwork too. The 'covers' for '85 and '87 were just outstanding!

I'll never get tired of looking at those catalogs. I scored a bunch of them several years ago, and was really excited to get them. My personal favorites are probably the first few mail-in offer booklets (the one with Flint in the top right corner and the S.T.R.I.K.E. one, in particular), because I always enjoyed the little storylines they included. Sure, the plots were just an attempt to sell more toys, but it's an approach that stuck with me.

And Psychoviper is right: some of the photography in the catalogs is really nice. It's not easy to get a shot of more than a few figures and have them all be well-lit and focused; some of the pictures must have been pretty tricky to set up.

I liked the operation catalogs. Looking at them now just makes me cringe at the fact I never tried to get more at those prices.

It folds out like the rest, one side is a poster type of art work, the other sied more mail-in pieces...

$3.49 + 4 flagg points for a HISS .. now that's depressing.

I loved those old inserts. I used to spend afternoons studying Joe and Star Wars catalogues. They were always packed with so much info, unlike the 1-page fold-outs that we get these days. The 83, 84, and 85 catalogues are my favorites. This takes me back to funner and simpler times :-)

I really wish I jumped on the older items in those catalogues. I didn't collect Joes much until 84, so I missed out on stuff like the VAMP, MMS, and HAL. I was always afraid to ask my parents for the money to buy mail order items, even though trips to TRU were always frequent. My biggest gripe as a kid was never being able to purchase Keel Haul on his own, too bad the internet wasn't around back then to let me know that Hasbro Direct was a viable option :-/

The most annoying thing about those mail order ones was the lack of figures in the early years...just Hooded Cobra Commander, a great figure.

Some Cobra troopers would've been cool, especially at the cheap price they offered Hooded CC in those early years.

Convince your folks to let you order some vehicles, but they didn't offer drivers...until later and argh! you had to get them as a set...if not I'd have ordered as many Hiss and Stinger Drivers as I could've gotten away with.

Is there anywhere online where these have been scanned in? if not would it be something people were interested in?

I've still got some of these kicking around from when I was a kid (And the MOTU comics too).
Cool find.

http://www.yojoe.com/catalogs/

But I'm sure they'd take updated high res scans.

I love those catalogs. I used to carry them with me everywhere I went! I even took them to church and my friends and I would sit in the back of the church and use the catalogs to tell stories like they were some type of comic book. They often told their own stories as well that I could conitnue playing out like "Secret of the Ooze".

My absolute favorite was the one that offered The Night Landing, vehicle drivers, and the Vamp Mk II
