Now, don't get me wrong, I like the old school 80s BATs. They're neat and all, but Hasbro came up with some pretty cool BAT designs during JvC all the way through Sigma 6. Those models all seemed more in-line with something you might see Cobra fielding in the 21st century. Do you think Hasbro will ever bother trying to redo the later model BATs in the modern style? I for one would love to see the Sigma 6 Ninja BAT in the modern 1/18 styling.

The Sigma style designs are definitely worth revisiting. And if they do, I think Ninja BATs would be high on that list since they were never done in that scale. And BATs lend so well toward repaints that all the tooling would have multiple uses.

I think one thing that the VvV era had right about BATs was the interchangeable parts. If they update them to the modern sculpted style, it would be nice to see the popping arm sockets again as with Resolute Destro. More arms, more arm attachments...now all the possibilities of swapped heads. I think that the fun of these really is helped by being able to change out parts since that way just a few molds can be mixed to make tons of combinations for later releases. I would definitely like to see additional designs for the modern BAT.

I will, but it will be for far fewer figures.

I liked the VvSV/Sigma Skybat, and though we should have gotten a 25th style sclupt for one.
Still, There's so many character left in the line to be made, yet Hasbro has to keep pumping out movie turds
to slow the retail environment down. I'm sure permanent hand/missle launcher Roadblock will be too busy flying off shelves
for anyone to even notice waves 3+.

It would be neat to see a 7 pack done on these really. Get them all blown out at once and be done. An updated Over Kill sort of like the 12" idea where he has the scarf covering the mechanical skull mouth. Then 2 of each BATs. Basically update the BAT Attack pack.

I will say as much as I love the 25th BAT, I would love to see a 25th v2 BAT.

I don't understand why this line is more expensive than Star Wars. Star Wars they pay some sort of licensing for the property right? GI Joe is entirely Hasbro owned, shouldn't it be cheaper? Does it just come down to a bigger demand for Star Wars, so they can produce more and charge less per figure?

There's still PoC Dukes on the peg at my target with the new $10.99 price point.

Star Wars does definitely sell better, so volume can make up for increased costs. I imagine it's the same for the Marvel figures as well. However, since the topic of the thread has nothing to do with pricing, I'll say that I'd love 3 3/4th versions of the Sigma Six BATS (and in the case of the Sky BAT, with the updated sculpting and articulation) and a new construction version of v1 Overkill. Not sure how likely they are at this point, since I think there are a lot of other characters that are more demanded and new BAT figure parts can't be re-used as easily as human parts, with less re-use possible the more robotic you get.

Movie year, Movie Prices... Paramount's cut of the Toys/merchandising has to come from somewhere.

Pretty much. This isn't the first time Hasbro has made alterations to cut cost either. Why else do you think they ultimately ditched the movie heads for the PoC figures? And yes, Star Wars is a far bigger seller than GIJoe will likely ever be. Hasbro can afford to produce more product for that and of course higher volume = lower cost. That's a large part of why con exclusives cost so much more compared to retail.

On topic: I'd love to see the v2 ARAH BAT done in modern sculpt as well as the first JvC BAT.

A newly tooled SkyBAT , and I'd freak. A variety of newly sculpted BATs all with interchangeable parts and I'd be one happy toy geek.

I don't think it'll ever happen, but it's a sweet idea.

I'd like to see this one updated with more modern articulation, with compatible arms with the 25th BAT, as a sort of "endoskeleton" BAT.

Sure... when Goldner steps down as CEO and is replaced by someone who lets the brand managers do their jobs, and cares about G.I. Joe.
