In the spirit of that Dune model set that used Wetsuit's sled as part of the model, here's something interesting. I was browsing TRU's site today, and saw this True Heroes set. Not exactly my style, but then I noticed the tan backpack on the left. It looks like an Alley Viper Backpack!

They've also been known to use a modified cast of a Big Ben 91 backpack: I seem to remember the front of the pack being relatively unchanged, but the back of the mold is significantly more hollow and has a shorter, different-looking peg.

Yeah, Chap Mei and the Chap Mei knock-offs are good about using slightly modded Joe backpacks and accessories. It was great back when I was still into O-ring style Joes, because I could give all my different Alley Vipers the 'right' backpack. Is it just me, or back in the day, did Lanard seem to use a lot of Joe backpacks and guns, too?

As an aside, I kind of want that set in the picture. I like the vehicle, looks like a decent head-sculpt on the one guy, plus some backpacks to mod for Joe use.

Didn't Chap Mei also modify some of the Joe vs Cobra heads and such? I remwmber seeing a Beach Head in one of their packs once.

They have some pretty decent covered heads. There's one with a wolf emblem on it that is Beachhead-esque, but I don't think it was quite the same.

There was one that looked like a modded JvC Beachhead head, and another that looked like a modded JvC Frostbite head, in the Wild Arctic line:

The guy with the polar bear hat is the one I was talking about. He's more Beachhead like than I remembered. I love the other head yet never made the connection between it and JvC Frostbite.

Yes, those are the ones I remember, I remember there being a Han Solo hooded one too, but it seemed too much that they'd steal a Han Solo head, but I think it was just the type of parka hood I remember. But that Beach Head one is the one that stuck in my head. I still think I have it in a drawer somewhere.

I still remember seeing those JvC figures at Target when they came out again and it was like I was a kid all over again. Now, some of them make me want to throw up.
