Snagged the Black Dragon VTOL at Walmart recently. Went back today for the VAMP Mk. II.

As far as I can tell offhand, it's identical to the previous VAMP except for the color. It's green this time around instead of tan, which is a cute "color reversal" of the original VAMP, which started out green, and its "Mk. II" was tan.

I pondered in the thread about the VTOL, which has no labels, whether the massive number of labels that came with the first VAMP would accompany the second. Yep -- they do. So, if I had any weekend plans... Anyway, maybe this time around I won't lose the ^@!&%&^@%#& dashboard label.

Steel Brigade Delta is a cool figure. The file card made me raise an eyebrow, since it described the Steel Brigade as the "grunts" of the Joe Team who want to work their way up to specialized individuals. I'd always seen the Steel Brigade as a special group of top-secret specialists that did stuff that even the Joes couldn't quite touch.

Conversely, except for the fancy helmet (and is that a Snake-Eyes head under it -- or something that could pass for one?), this guy looks more like a general soldier, lugging around about ten tons of equipment so he's ready for any conceivable situation. So maybe the Steel Brigade has been repurposed or something.

yes thats the way the Steel Brigade has always been described sort of... Back in the day when you mailed in for the figure it was supposed to be YOU on the Joe team

... Then there's people that use them as the green shirts... NEVER heard it described as top-secret specialists that did stuff that Joes couldn't touch... thats what the JOE team IS. Joes do the stuff the normal military can't touch... since the Joes are basically top secret and off the books.. And yes back when the fig was showed it was speculated that was a Snake Eyes head underneath...

That's what the card on the 30A version of the Steel Brigade figure says, too. "Grunts" of the GI Joe team.

I guess since the original Steel Brigade figure was one that you could sort of write your own profile for, I always saw them as a highly specialized team within G.I. Joe, sort of like Tiger Force or some such, maybe like the G.I. Joe version of the Crimson Guards.

Not really... they weren't exactly army builder-able. And the offers basically said "THIS TOY IS YOU".

I have Steel Brigade be the Joe's versions of Vipers.
Like blue shirts are the lowest rank then Viper.
Green shirt is the lowest rank then Steel Brigade.

I never saw the previous Vamp in stores, and really wanted to pick one up. I finally found the 30th version at a local Wal Mart, had in hand checking it out, and found myself on the fence as to whether or not I wanted it afterall. I ended up putting it down and not getting it. About a week later I was checking them out on Ebay and found a loose complete Vamp, still unassembled, and without the driver. It was listed as "buy it now" for around $12.00. I decided to sleep on it.
I ended up forgetting about it until a few days later I was on Ebay and noticed I had one item to pay for...it was the Vamp. The night I was looking it up on Ebay, I let my son play with my Ipad without closing that app, and he ended buying it for me.

Anyway, I should be getting it today or tomorrow. I am excited about it, and am looking forward to applying the stickers.
I could care less about the Steel Brigade figure since I have zero interest in the modern day figures.

Yeah like Lance said, I'd also say if it turned up like that, you were meant to have it. It's not a bad vehicle. Not the best, but not bad to have either.

I got it last week, and put it together, then spent about an hour applying the stcikers. Though I typically love applying stickers, some of those were a pain in the ass due to being so tiny. If I ever get another one, I'll be sure to get my magnifying glass and tweezers out!
