I'm thinking of picking up the Superman Returns Microman for a custom, but I've got a few questions for the guys or gals that already own 'im (or any other figures with the new construction):

-Is the cape removable?

-Does he have the traditional screw assembly in his back and lower torso/abs?

-Can his legs be disassembled, like other Micromen? In the images I've seen, I haven't been able to make out any screw holes, like past figures have had.

-For anyone who's painted Supes, how bad is the paint rub on the shoulders and other joints?

-Any words of advice/things I should look out for with this guy? (IE weak plastic, loose articulation, etc.)

Thank you for any info you can offer--- I definitely appreciate it!

I've got one - I use it for Superboy, though because he's so damn scrawny. He's built different than most Micromen - using a new style that I haven't really seen anywhere else.

To answer your questions:

Is the cape removable? Yes - it's got a small peg in the back to plug into his back screw.

-Does he have the traditional screw assembly in his back and lower torso/abs? Back screw only - everything else is pegs & ball joints.

-Can his legs be disassembled, like other Micromen? In the images I've seen, I haven't been able to make out any screw holes, like past figures have had. His legs pop out of the thighs at the knee joint - Ankles are attached with pegs as well. Not really compatible with previous MMs.
-For anyone who's painted Supes, how bad is the paint rub on the shoulders and other joints? Haven't painted this one, but I've painted a few Micro Comic Supes, which seem to use the same kind of plastic - the ball joints are always problematic - so I'd recommend a high-end paint (Model Master, Tamiya) in thin coats and a good sanding job on the joints.

-Any words of advice/things I should look out for with this guy? (IE weak plastic, loose articulation, etc.) On mine, the ball-socket shoulders pop out all the time. Not a big deal when posing, but when I play with him I always have to pop his shoulders back in.

Hope that helps - if you want, I can put up some pics of different parts or whatever - just tell me what you want to see and I'll snap 'em for you.

THANKS, CHIEF!

I'm not worried about how scrawny Supes is, 'cuz it'll work for what I've got planned. It's actually one of the reasons why I was considering him in the first place. ;-)

About disassembling the legs-- do I need to boil & pop, or do they snap in and out of the thighs?

I'm okay without the pics, unless there's some helpful images you think I should see, but thanks for the offer, man.

Nope, they pop right out of the sockets.

Here's a disassembled pic:

And a size comparison (my Comic Supes is actually about 3/8" shorter than "factory" after I modded him.)

Man, thank you again.

That disassembly pic gives me a perfect idea of what to expect! The build is what I was expecting and works for what I wanna do.

Looks like Supes'll be easier to customize than I originally thought... famous last words... :rotfl:

Chief, you've been a huge help, dude. Thanks for all the info, advice, and pics!
