A few weeks ago I finally was able to locate a nearly complete Transportable Tactical Battle Platform from a nearby guy. It was in great shape, but it definitely need some cleaning.

I think it's a pill bug? Eeee....

Image

Yep, that's a dead spider.

Anyways, I'd been wanting to try out ZombieGuide's dusting by dishwasher technique. I read joemichaels70's JCWiki entry for doing it, and tested it out on a MMS that I bought the same day from a different dealer.

Image

Acck.

Anyways, the MMS turned out pretty good, so I loaded up the dish washer with the TTBP parts and crossed my fingers.

About 45 minutes later here's what we had.

Image

Everything came out very nice looking, but the dreaded "whitening of the stickers" that Joe talks about in the Wiki did happen.

Image

Still, a minor concern for how nice it looks now.

I also wiped the MMS down with some Advanced Auto parts protectant wipes like Darko talks about in this JCWiki entry and it looks fantastic for a 25 year old toy.

I'm probably going to try using the Bestine trick that ZombieGuide talks about here...hopefully that will remove some of the white around the stickers. If that doesn't work I might look into getting some reproduction stickers for it. And after that I'm going to look into restoring the windshield around the Comm center of the Platform. It's really scratched up, but hopefully ZombieGuide's video will get me started.

Just the water and steam that the dishwasher produces is enough to lift off the grime and dirt. I wouldn't recommend using any detergent, might have some unforeseen effects on the plastic.

The detergent won't do much to the plastic, but it will KILL the stickers, and leave a horrible residue on top of them.

aye, never use soap!

you may want to use some bestine to remove the stickers and see about tracking down a replacement set of stickers from 334th joe co. or that new joe decal site.

That's the plan, but I'm having trouble finding anyone that does TTBP stickers. J. Ruben on yojoe.com used to do repro stickers for it, but I'm not sure if he still does.

I'm the one who actually suggested thier Cobra Air Force stickers and they did them. So I don't see why they wouldn't be able to do the TTBP if someone had one for them to do.
