Not sure if this has been posted here or not. This is pretty good.
If Rise Of Cobra had taken their costume cues from these guys, it might have been a better movie.

Still funny though. "Destro and the Baroness, practicing their clarinets." :whistling:

You're kidding, right?

The sheer ridiculousness of how those look, especially Cobra's attires, on real bodies, is proof enough that the extensive redesigns done for Rise of Cobra were an absolute necessity.

Only partially. Pretend you are seening the RoC costumes for the first time, all characters, no captions as to who they are. How many would you have recognized right off? Snake Eyes, Scarlett (maybe), Heavy Duty (maybe), Storm Shadow and Baroness. How many of these guys did you recognize right off? If you don't say "all of them," I'll ask you to kindly turn in your membership to the G.I.*JOE fan club and give me your entire collection of 3 3/4 Joes and vehicles. :-D :-D
Actually, I thought seening the costumes in real life was kinda neat. Reminded me of some professionally done comic-con style outfits, almost like SW's 501st. Of course, if these had been the costume choices of the movie, the movie would have to been as campy as the 1966 Batman movie.

Hawk, thanks to the leather jacket and the being played by Dennis freaking Quaid.
Duke, thanks to the scar.
Breaker, if shown in his Reactive Armor gear, thanks to the comm rig.
Heavy Duty, thanks to the huge gun and being huge without being bald and goatee'd.
Scarlett, thanks to the crossbow and red hair.
Snake-Eyes, for obvious reasons.
Storm Shadow, for obvious reasons.
Baroness, for obvious reasons.
Destro, for being played by a Scotsman. More so if the image showed him post-transformation.
Cobra Commander, thanks to the long coat and the reflective silver mask that happens to be vaguely snake-themed.

So, really that would've left Ripcord, Sgt. Stone, Zartan, Cover Girl and "The Doctor" as unrecognizable. And since two of them are characters that ORIGINATE from the film, well...

Cause that couldn't have been Dialtone or an original character? You could have inferred it was Breaker, but he asked if you would have recognized him. I don't think this answer or the Hawk answer are very strong.

Hawk has blonde hair. Dennis Quaid hasn't had blonde hair since Great Balls of Fire.

Duke has a scar? I mean Duke, the toy?

Most versions of Hawk have brown hair. Plus the overall look is pretty epically General Hawk.

Yes.

Duke the Sigma Six toy. And the Sigma Six character.

You mean like Hawk V1 and 25th Hawk V1 and Marvel Comic's Hawk?

not being a fan or collector of Sigma Six, I wouldn't know that they gave Duke a scar.

bah. this is going off topic.

that video is amazing! talk about calling in some favors!

More like Hawk 86 and Hawk Sunbow Toon (okay, more black than brown but still!) and flying Hawk 91 and Star Brigade Hawk and 97 Hawk and TRAHC Hawk and 25th Hawk v86.

Really? The very first promo pictures you figured out every character?
I'll have to watch the movie again, but I don't recall DQ wearing a leather jacket.
Breaker? Really? you saw a French guy of Mediterrainian heritage with a thin mustache as Breaker? His comm gear in the first promo picture wasn't anything more than a regular SpecOps guy would carry, plus no bubble gum.
Did you know Destro was Scottish by looking at the picture? I saw a well dressed guy who ran a high end car theft ring in Long Beach without a trace of a silver face mask. (Woo-Hoo, two hanging participles in one sentance!)
Heavy Duty, well maybe, he just wasn't a character I was familiar with.
And Doctor Cobra Commander? I thought he was Dr. Minbender and as CC, I had no idea, in fact I thought he was Destro.

Jay, I'm not trying bust your balls here and start any kind of argument, just having some fun, but I'm just saying that if you took the actors from the video I posted and compare them to the actors from RoC and showed them to the average fan, I'd be willing to bet that they could identify all the actors from the video and only the obvious (SE, SS, Scarlett and Baroness) actors from RoC. (By actors I mean the costumes)

Henry Rollins as Duke, looks like Juilianne Moore as Scarlette, and Alan Tydek (or however you spell his name) as Shipwreck. Looks like Gung Ho is a WWF wrestler. Some of the other actors look familiar, but I just can't put a name with a face.

Well RoC didn't make me cry, this video did.

the idea of Mindbender chatting it up all night on the Ham radio with Gung Ho greatly amuses me.

So does sad Zartan.

Also combining the Robot Chicken Sketch about Snow Job, with this and we all know why he needs to chug beers all night.
