Mastercollector will no longer be printing the master collector newspaper 9as most of you already know)

Your new avenue for buying/selling and trading will be through our own auction site MCAX.com (Master Collector Auctions eXtreme). As long as your Officer Level Membership is active, you will be able to put online, unlimited ads and auctions at MCAX.com. This will gives you a totally new way to trade with club members. If you are not an Officer Level Member, you will be able to subscribe to MCAX.com for $5 a month and be able to put online unlimited ads and auctions. During our promotional introductory period, everyone will have access to this service as we want people to try it out.

The G.I. Joe Club will be going strong for many years to come and you will still receive your full color club magazine each month in the mail.

In February, you will receive your new G.I. Joe Club magazine in an envelope. Also, it will be in a new comic book format style and have 4 more pages (16 total!).

We feel that this change better reflects the needs of our members. If you have any questions, please leave them in the club forum.

Considering how archaic their message board systems are, I shudder to think at how outdated their auction software will be... 8-O

Oh my god. The school bus is stuck across the tracks and the freight train is barreling toward it... I can't watch! I can't look away!

I do wish them the best of luck, however, single fax lines for registrations, the message board being unnavigable, and the group's seeming lack of desire to embrace new technology, particularly the internet suggests to me that there would have to be a "game changer" in place to make this a success. They will either have to outsource it, or hire in new talent to make this work.

While the flat fee listing system is compelling in light of rising ebay fees, the real question is, can non-paying members bid on the items past the introductory period? If only paid members can bid on the items, why would I auction to a much smaller market than would be available on ebay, kijiji or craigslist which I don't have to pay a membership fee to use?

It can't possibly be more outdated than the print personal ads they were using and trying to claim as a perk for being a part of the club.

I wonder if the paid ads that were formally part of the print portion will now be the extra 2 pages of the new booklet format.

I dont think they realize how difficult its going to be to get peoples minds away from the buying/selling venues that have content and familiarity (Ebay/Amazon/Private sites). Good luck though. Ill be sure to throw a few things on there to see what happens, but don't expect much for the effort.

I don't know...the way eBay has really been hammering its sellers, I don't think this could have come at a better time. I know I plan to give it a shot just to see how it operates.

It won't ever be the place for every listing since it is members-only and therefore a niche group of people, but I do think it will be a good outlet for some things. With so many collectors disbursed across various "home" websites, this could be a common ground for selling that will be useful.

I'm just wondering if you must be a member to buy.

You have to fax in your bids.

Not if you purchase the carrier pigeon package or subscribe to the monthly "two cans and a string" premium service.

They'll give you a free repaint of T-crotch Duke with that.

I anticipate that MCAX is going to be just as hard on sellers. No matter how much they would like to make it seem so, MC doesn't do any of this to be friendly or help us out. They do it to make money, and they consider us to be a pigs in a poke.
