I just received the TRU exclusive Desert 5-Pack in a trade. Footloose is my favorite figure. However, for which figure was his head used before? Or is it a new head? Seems like TRU exclusives are always repaints with no new tooling. So where did that head come from?

Chief speaks da truth. 25th Airborne, Hit 'n' Run and RoC Rollbar.

And store exclusives are going to primarily be repaints with little to no new tooling. Stores don't want to foot the bill for new tooling and repaints are cheaper so there ya go. Ain't always a good thing but it is what it is. These TRU 5-packs are on the good thing side of the argument I think.

I'm seeing a lot of fans in a lot of places complaining that the 5-packs sucked because it deprived them of a "proper 25th Anniversary Footloose" and that Hasbro "screwed them over".

Personally I dig how he looks, but the 5-pack isn't available here and the online prices aren't as worth it...

A propoer 25th Footloose is easy enough to get out of the Pit Trooper in the "Attack on the Pit" exclusive, available at the same establishment.

I'm more irritated by the Law figure in that desert set, actually. And the Starbucked Dial-Tone.

Yeah, I'm no fan of Law. He's the kind of guy I see as being more active around the PIT than out in the field, so I'd have preferred him in the more traditional Joe camo than in desert camo. Also, just reusing the Dusty/PIT Commando head wasn't very original.

As for Dial-Tone, I don't mind the gender change, but it would've been nice if they'd made her look like the Joe comm tech from the film (who informs General Hawk that the team has been deployed) instead of just using Mary Sue's head and not even change the paint masks on it.

Hey gents, mind posting a couple pix of these figures, I'm interested in seeing them. Thanks.

Wow, it is Airborne/Hit & Run/ Rollbar. Thanks Chief. What a difference a color change can make. I actually had Rollbar standing right next to Footloose on my shelf and I never noticed that they share the same head sculpt.

It's too bad that this pack isn't available here. I'll have to trade for another one I guess. Footloose is my favorite from the pack, but Repeater is cool and so is Dial-Tone. Zartan and Law are meh but still good for customs. Accessory-wise, it isn't a bad pack. Repeater's (Resolute Roadblock's) machine gun is awesome. Law's shield is much better than the tiny one that came with the Pit Commando and it's good to get a minty fresh Order.

I find it hard to complain about any of these figures.

Sure, they're not perfect. Dialtone II could have been improved with a new hair sculpt, Law seems out of place in tans/browns.

But... these were "on the cheap" retools that gave us 2 characters new to the 25A format and 3 brand new characters (I count Order as a character, too- making this a six figure set. :-D. A different Order because it's colored differently and Law from 1987 has got to be dead by now, you know :-( ).

I like this set. Looking at the pictures, is Repeater black? I thought he was a white guy.
I'm on the fence if I'd like to buy this set though, they're all great figures, but I'm just not too keen on the desert camo patterns.

Yeah Repeater is black but several people have done a head swap on Footloose with the extra Pit Commando/Zartan head and made Repeater and keeping the black one as Hardball.

As someone who did the Repeater redux MS mentions above, I can say I'm very happy with that aspect of the set. To me, the Repeater they gave us was just another bald, black machinegunner (which is how JvC sold Heavy Duty) when Roadblock has always amply filled that role.

Also I saw these at TRU yesterday. They had more of the Joe set than the Cobra one (surprise suprise) and I was sorely tempted to get another Joe set just for the fodder. At $20 for 5 figures its a great deal.

My only gripe with the set is the redundancy. Two Zartan bodies, two Sgt. Stone bodies... and everyone's sporting the exact same camo.

Taken individually, I find each figure looking nice.

As a set, though, it's kind of repetitive.
