Saw Bench Press (Brawler clone) and ROC Snow Serpent today at TRU.

Snagged a Brawler-Press for fun - not a bad fig. Uses Bazooka's upper body, Clutch's head, and ROC HD's legs:

(Sword of Brawl-ens not included - but appropriate, don'tcha think? :P )

Just checked the filecard. Apparently his name is "Craig S. McConnel" and he's a surfer & weightlifter.

They could have at least made him blond if they were going the Rock&Roll route.

I guess that explains the ammo belt tattoo

Yeah, something about them wanting to do a movieverse Rock'n'roll, but them not being able to clear the name for some reason, and so they made him a Brawler clone or something.

But with Serpentor's head, that Bench-Press would make a spiffy ROC-verse Salvo.

I picked up one a few dyas ago and I like him more than I thought I would. He looks more of a zombie hunter with the axe & chainsaw. Bench Press he will be, but Craig S. McConnel, he won't be.

Yeah, I actually like this figure a lot. The axe and chainsaw helped me determine what role he'll play, I'm going to use him as a combat engineer. I'm actually glad they couldn't clear the Rock N' Roll name (it comes down to international copyright, they wanted names that could be the same all over the world) because I love new characters.

Yeah Rock 'n' Roll was on the short list for the movie itself too but the name copyright issue was among the reasons he was dropped.

I need one of him just because he's got RnR's filecard. And honestly he's not a bad looking figure for a repaint. We need more big guys like him.

This figure was originally meant to be Resolute Rock&Roll. That explains the file name and tattoo.

Considering he's using ROC parts and lacks elbow pads and kneepads, I doubt he was planned to be Resolute anything.

Actually he was meant to be the movie Rock 'n' Roll. Got that straight from John at Hasbro at SDCC. Plus the Resolute Rock 'n' Roll had a completely different look from this guy.

So my TRU got 1 case. I bought 2 of the Bench Press...I am going to keep him as Bench Press and not "Rock and Roll" as I like Rock and Roll the way he is

He definitely looks cool. I too immediately thought "combat engineer" when I saw his ax and chainsaw.

I really wish they would have given him a new head instead of repainting Clutch's though. What is this, 1982?

I wonder if my area will see these before 2010?

No, this is post-2007. A world where Hasbro reuses toolings as much as possible.
