So I recently tried explaining to someone why I like 1990 Joe vehicles (RE my handle) and I showed them a picture of the General and they went whoa!

Long story short, they asked me how many people it seated and I didn't know so....

How many seats are there on the general and how many figures do you think it could hold?

I would say judging by the box art that it could seat 12 in the cockpit and the gunner stations, with 4 more riding the rail around the cockpit.

Who knows how many could fit under the big deck.

I never had the vehicle itself, but tried to figure out a way for it to fit in to the 'verse. It is too big to fly in a C-130 or two and I can't see the JOEs moving it down the highway by convoy. It is a small somewhat deployable sometimes mobile platform. It was about that time I managed to snag a Tactical Battle Platform at a flea market. I looked at the TBP and I looked at the General. I looked back and forth and came to the realization that the General was just a transport vehicle for TBP variation.

DJ, As an aside I always though the bigger vehicles were one offs any way and that the general was stationed in eastern Europe and the MCC in the middle east.

I always used the General as an mobile arctic command base. It has the landing pad for incoming supplies, etc. A big ass mortar for long range attacks, and its gigantic size wasnt an issue on a barren tundra. Its gigantic wheels made sense for the enviroment as did its color and lights (for blizzards/bad conditions).

i always liked it being manned by arctic soldiers, with snow cats, battle bears around it.

I also think it holds 6 on the front rails. If no one else can give you any concrete information ill look on mine tonight and see how many it really holds.

So you have a General question, then.

The general holds, to my recollection, the following:

Front cockpits: 4
Cockpit rails: 6
Top Deck guns: 4
Top Deck Missiles: 2
Internal Stations: approx. 8 (4 per bay)
Locust: 3

Total: 27 figures

There really aren't that many foot-pegs on the General, most being under the top decks. Compared to the Mobile Command Center or Defiant, it's pretty sparse. It's really just a big sheet of molded plastic with two decks and a helicopter pad and weapons stuck on it.

Well, now, RedClaw, if I might be allowed to defend the General a bit, I think it's a fair bit cooler than that. It was pretty much the last of the really massive vehicles, and there was enough interesting detail underneath those top slabs, which were hinged, to allow for plenty of play value.

I've always liked the General, and one of the things I always found somewhat interesting about it was that it was one of the few ground-based vehicles (the DEMON being the only other one that pops to mind, and excepting certain planes, I believe) that had a distinctly greater width than length.

I'm kind of with RedClaw on this one. I love the large vehicles and I have all of them that were released from the vintage line in some form. The General is the only one that I have given consideration on selling just because it doesn't really "wow" me like the MCC, Terror Drome, or Defiant. I probably won't sell it, but if I do have to start giving stuff up, it would be something near the top of the list I think.

Well don't get me wrong, I went insane for the general as a kid. I spent forever trying to track one down and after numerous failed attempts (seriously, this thing was REALLY hard to find in late 1990/early 1991), I found one on my birthday of all days. It was one of two at TRU.

So it is a very cool, very big vehicle/toy.

But as I look on it later, it's a single piece base with stuff plugged into it and not much else.

So don't think I'm picking on the general, but it's just out classed by previous vehicles/playsets.
