Originally I would have picked Wildcard, cause of his goofy helmet, but after his humorous portrayal in the Joe comic, he became one of my favorites.

Armadillo is kinda bland.. but it kinda fits in contrast to the giant elaborate vehicle he commands....

but Lightfoot?

REAAALLLLY LOOKS WIERD!

Bright yellow colors, wierd alien looking helmet, odd looking tool, and whatever the hell that little droid vehicle is...

This was also a good year for Joes. I went with Armadillo. Very plain figure. There were some other figures that I can see why people don't like them, like Lightfoot, but I absolutely love that figure and his little robot thing. Armadillo's only issue really was that he was bland, and was released in a year where most figures had character without even reading their filecards. They stood out. He didn't.

I almost chose Armadillo for the plain design and for having fragile J-hooks (that piece broke on at least three Armadillos in my possession). However, I had to go with Budo, because even as outlandish as Joe can get, I simply can't see a guy running around in a samurai outfit like that (even though I think the actual sculpt is good).

Spearhead, because of the orange camouflage and his awkward design and odd accessories. His tall helmet looks funny, his rifle is big and obnoxious, he appears to have a Roman sword for a machete, wears an orange pack and travels with an orange bobcat.

Seriously difficult to only pick one from this year, and even more difficult for that one not to be Budo. Ultimately, I had to go with Super Trooper, it was just too goofy, with the vac-metal armor and shield.

I nearly went with Windmill myself. The colors, and the extensively UNpainted detail were pretty bad, especially given that black helmet that looked like a high-tech Mickey Mouse hat.

But I was able to repaint mine so he looks a little better, and enough people are picking on him as it is.

This was a tough choice. There were some excellent figures in 1988 -- Hit & Run, Shockwave, and several others.

There was also some seriously weird stuff, too. For me it came down to Hardball and Budo, and I ultimately went with Hardball, just because that baseball uniform bit made him look so dull, as well as out of place. Worse, my Hardball has since become discolored. :-(

 Man this was a hard one. I went with Spearhead mainly due to the his weird*** accessories I mean an orange backpack (that was fixed in the Night Force revision), a funky sword/machette, & that huge weird gun (which plagues us to this day). The only two I like is the helmet & Max the bobcat. His paint job could have been better also, I mean orange camo on a point man, ugh.

Yeah, Armadillo it is. Whoever designed him was phoning it in big time. These days, he can be somewhat spiced up by giving him some vest or webgear from the new figures. But you can only polish a turd so much... :rotfl:

I voted Spearhead. Terrible colors, bizarre accessories, and helmet that makes his head look like a bullet. Plus who the heck takes a bobcat into battle?
