I went with Gung-Ho v2.

It's not because it's a bad figure, because it was really the only real Class A uniform in the entire, it is just it's uniqueness sets it apart.

I almost went with Gung-Ho, but I went with Psyche-Out, I couldn't go against THE Marine. His uniform always bugged me because of the way the lower part of his blouse was tucked in to his trousers. If the figure had been designed during the New Sculpt series, the lower part of his blouse could have been sculpted similar to the way Jinx v3 or Rollbar's waists were sculpted.

Psyche-Out was at the start of the ridiculous uniforms with all those small dishes all over and non-practcle attire.

Sneak Peek. If you buy figures in lots, you are bound to get dozen or so

And he had a mic which is hard to find and puts him in the Heavy Metal-hate category

Fast Draw & Crazy Legs are next (bad if you don't have their accessories)

Somehow I expected to be more on my own in selecting Gung-Ho. While the figure was a decent tribute to dress-uniform Marines, a few things always bugged me a bit about the figure.

As Suburbanator stated, the jacket came up too short as a result of the design of the figure. This was the least complaint for me, however.

Clearly, the hat was originally designed to be removable, and yet some decision at the last moment had it glued into place. And it looked too large.

The headsculpt indicated that Gung-Ho had a short haircut. While there was some controversy early on, especially between the comic book and the animated series, as to whether Gung-Ho had hair or was bald, by 1987, you'd think they would've figured it out one way or the other.

The stickers for the rank insignia on the sleeves didn't stay put very well.

And the big one for me was purely one of image. Again, while it was nice to have a "dress-uniform" tribute to the Marines, it wouldn't seem especially likely that Gung-Ho would go into battle dressed like that, and so it just seemed out of place somehow as such. I remember seeing this illustration of the 1987 G.I.Joes, with all of them racing towards the "camera", and Gung-Ho was in the group in his dress blues uniform, and it just didn't quite look right.

Ultimately, it's NOT a bad figure at all, and I'm glad I have it. It's just an idea that maybe didn't work as well as hoped.

I too selected Gung Ho, since the figure can't be used in any combat situation.

Rumbler. Frankenstiened repaint before that became Hasbro's sales strategy. What a loser. Never had him, never plan to.

Gung-Ho was useless unless you had ceremonies, like funerals. I picked Psyche-Out. Sci-Fi started the neon-green in GI JOE and this guy kept it going. Actually his mold isn't so bad or parts of it, anyway.

Steamroller is god awful. His parts made for a really great Dreadnok (Demolishor) but he was a completely "LASER BLAST" GIJoe.

Gung-Ho. No use for him in battle, wearing that suit.

Gung-Ho I could deal with. I use him (and another with a switched head) as a Uniformed honor guard for General Colton.
... But Psyche-Out?

Other than Blasting "Panama" on Cobra Island with his shoulder speakers, or pluging into the matrix via his Lobot-esque Head contraption....

what use was he?
