Hard toss-up for me between Crystal Ball and Raptor.

I actually did not mind Raptor in the comic book, but in figure form.......hated it.

Crystal Ball gets my vote because I hated his figure, and I am not sure he ever made it into the Comic book (Marvel).
Did he?

Tough one. Most people will probably have to decide which one they hate the most. I had to decide which one I liked the least which was Gyro Viper. Most of the others are strange, but fun

Condorman sucked. So does Raptor. People should not dress up as birds, it's not right.

I went with the blindingly obvious in my opinion, Crystal Ball, but let's face it, Cobra hired SEVERAL pretty strange people in 1987, between CB, Big Boa, Raptor, and Croc Master, who was probably the best of the lot.

But Crystal Ball? Come on -- the red eyes, and his specialty -- a HYPNOTIST!? With a big spinning disc!? YEESH! About the only good thing I can say about the figure was that the raised styling on the shirt was painted neatly, and probably wasn't an especially easy paint stencil to create.

But I have to ask -- where was Cobra-La on this list? Because Crystal Ball would've been readily bumped to second place in favor of NEMESIS ENFORCER! Good grief what a pathetic figure relative to his animated likeness. Nemesis Enforcer was a HUGE and menacing-looking individual in the movie. The figure was actually SHORTER than most, and had a terribly dull expression on his face.

As little as I am into the 25th-style figures, I was still VERY pleased to purchase the comic set that included the "Nemesis Immortal" figure, which at least had the size and look to make him the menace he was in the movie -- and I'm convinced that the pathetic-ness of the original figure is about the only reason Hasbro turned out the second one, even in the different format, for which I am thankful to them.

I forgot about Cobra-La. :monocle:

All 3 of those would get my vote before any of the others

I agree that CB is really out there. But it is still more believable than a guy in a flying bird suit. There is just nothing there that could possibly be used. Raptor for the lose for me.

I'm not sure Raptor ever actually FLEW, so much as he used the bird suit to get his trained falcons to bond with him or some such. Okay, he was a nutjob, agreed, but trained birds of prey CAN be dangerous, certainly, and I think moreso than some nitwit with a creepy backstory and a spinning hypnotic disc. You'll note that the one Special Mission story that used CB was one of the few original comics NOT written by Larry Hama. I think that says something, too.

Raptor. Which is weird, because I got a beat up Raptor as a kid from one of my brother's friends and loved it. Now that I'm older, I guess I've lost my enjoyment for such silly characters. Before the internet, I had no idea who he really was, so I used him as some sort of Native American shaman with that talisman and headress. That way, he's sort of cool, but knowing what he is now, it's an awful figure and character.

It was a tough choice between Raptor and Sea Slug, but I had to go with SS. The design is ugly, the colors are awful, and the Lampreys look much better while serving the same function.

Oh, man. Can I just vote ALL of them!!! What a weak year for organized terrorism!

Crystal Ball was a crappy version of an already fairly weak figure (Mindbender). Sea Slug looked like raspberry sherbet. Big Boa was a bit boring. The rest were just sorta unimpressive, except Ice Viper WORMS and maybe Zanzibar. I guess Croc Master was ok.

But the winner, of course is the one and only Raptor. Easily one of the most craptacular concepts of the whole line. Like he was transplanted straight out of some 60s DC comic. :raptor: = sour frog ass

How is it even possible for so much suck to occur in a single year? I'm surprised the universe didn't implode upon seeing the new Cobra lineup in '87.

Hi,

Raptor might have been cool it he had been Cobra's native american tracker-type like ajaman wrote.

He's the goofiest of the lot, especially cuz of his head sculpt, but I voted Cobra Commander.

1. Easily lost helmet hose that should've been sculpted on in the first place. There's thousands of used versions missing this piece.
2. All that silver paint that rubs off too easy, and since they molded the head in caucasian flesh tone, when paint rubs off it looks even worse.
3. Character design. Okay, the Commander in armor seems like a good idea...but why so little chest armor plate and so much everywhere else? Why does his helmet have a fake nose sculpted on? Why is the backpack so strange? Why the sliver color, do Destro's designers want Cobra Commander to be a big target? (Maybe!)

Gyro-Viper, but only because of that extraordinary look. I do like him though.
