I've seen this mentioned off-hand here and there, but I thought it was about time for a thread about these guys.

Just in time to cash in on the GI Joe movie Unimax has a new line of sci-fi/military 3 3/4" action figures. I found them at Target tonight hanging right next to the Joes. I bought the 2 single packed Bad Guy characters.

Overall I like these ALOT. They remind me a great deal of the old Remco figs with their simple sculpting and parts reuse.

All 3 "Darkstorm" (The bad guys) figures use the exact same body with different heads. The body itself reminds me ALOT of a Delta 6 Accelerator Suit (Which I'm sure has nothing to do with the GI Joe Movie ) but way simplified. It's articulated just like a 2002 Joe but slimmer build. They also have one turned hand (Like the Neo Viper).

Head #1 is "Sythe" Darkstorm Commander. He just happens to look a lot like Dr. Rex Lewis. I'm sure it's just a coincidence

Head #2 is "Caliber" who sports a tan beret and mirrored shades.

Head #3 (Which I didn't get) is a nice pilot helmet. I forget the name. He comes with a bunch of other figures and accessories for $9.99.

Overall I love these. Of course I'm a sucker for knock offs anyway They're cheap and cheerful knock-offs that are clearly cashing in on the movie hype. And they're only $2 each. They'll be great to fill out the ranks for kids Joe collections (The way Remco did for me when I was little!) too as even the lowest allowance should be able to afford them.

I heard about these & all I heard wasn't very good.
$2 each makes me think they are cheap & junky just like the current Corps figures.

They look sort of neat from the prototype packaging. I'll keep an eye out for them. I don't mind CORPS! stuff and even got around to deciding to collect/keep them as is rather than just getting them to customize. If they look decent enough I'll probably get a couple.

don't let those prototype mock-ups fool you. They look waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the actual figures. The figures themselves remind me of the late 90s Corps figures. Aren't they T-crotched as well?

They are definitely cheaply made. Cheaper than CORPS.

If you've ever held a Remco fig, that's really the closest comparison.

Which Remco figures? The American Forces ones that were close matches to Joes or the ones reusing straight-armed A-Team bodies?
Because the former were quite good.

Yeah my Target has them and they also have 2 vehicle packs that comes with a figure in each set for $8 bucks. Both are 1 man vehicles a boat & a 3 wheeled cycle thing. They look pretty cool for your sci-fi needs. Lower body is like the Forces of Valor figures and the upper body is almost Joe typ articulation, pretty cool over all and for the prices.

I picked up the two multi-packs and a couple of single packs yesterday. They're actually pretty neat. For background figs, they'd work as-s, the detailing and such work. However, with the articulation (the arms are full articulated, but cut mid bicep, and turn the hands weirdly for holding weapons), I wouldn't use them as primary figs. I actually got them to customize, as the heads are really well done and will work nicely into the Joe line.
The hands may also work on Joes, if cut off and modded to fit a Joe body. They're soft and rubbery, like modern Joe hands, so no concern of breakage.
The main thing that hooked me and made me buy these? One thing and one thing alone: Chainsaw Sword.

I have yet to see these, but I have to say that the sculpting is not bad for a budget figure and the weapons look very cool. I may have to hit Target and see if these guys have shown up yet...
