I had low expectations for the gunship, but I've been pleasantly surprised with it. The sculpt quality and detail is pretty high, with parts fitting together well, and lots of detailed features (like engine detail underneath opening covers. I also had to take some time to apply quite a few decals, which was nice. The cabin area can hold 2 figures, and the cockpit has decent detailing. The chin gun looks decent and rotates 360 degrees. The side missiles shoot really far, and the bombing mechanism has a cool loading/unloading method. There are three landing skids that rotate 90 dgrees up into the fuselage when not in use - so they still stick out even when "up."

My 4 year old son won't put it down, after not really being interested in any other Joe toys I've bought.

My only complaint so far is with the side missile launchers. They can retract in and out of the body, but its only a tiny amount. They might as well be stationary.

As for the lack of rotors, I'm trying to hold judgment on that until I see it explained in the movie.

A lot of people complain about the lack of rotors on the Gunship, but I think it's cool. It basicly a Raptor from Battlestar Galactica.

Figured I'd pull this thread back up. That Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes with dark or grey Timber thing. I saw a ton of grey ones at Wal-Mart today. Actually all the new ones I see are grey so I'm wondering if there was a running change more than it was meant to be a variant. It is a variant though.

Cobra Commander, the first ones coming out had holes in the neck/chest and now I saw a ton of Cobra Commander figures with the hole pluged, or rather the mold corrected. I went ahead and bought one since it looks better without those holes.

The black Timber and CC with no holes are going to be the more common of the two long run. Hasbro said as much.

Hmm, I still haven't grabbed a grey Timber pack since that's the version I keep seeing. I have a dark Timber. I guess I may grab the grey one for the heck of it.

No holes Cobra Commander?

Wow that's the first I heard of that. I gotta find one now.

My first Cobra Commander has no holes in his head, but holes for his gadgets. The second CC I bought for a custom is the same, but one of the leg holes is plugged.

Where did you hear that about the black Timber? In the Q&A all they said was that these were planned variants, not which was the common one and which was the rare one. I haven't seen anything online except speculation that the gray timber would be the rare one. As J_man pointed out, all of the later cases have been shipping with the gray timber, while all of the early cases shipped with black timber. I'm only speculating, but my guess is that the gray timber is going to be the one going forward, which would most likely make the black timber more rare. In all honesty, we'll probably never know because Hasbro doesn't release production numbers. Maybe if someone asked flat out in the Q&A they'd answer, but they'd just as likely dance around the question.

I think the rumor that the gray was rare started because the first wave was all black timbers, and only a few gray showed up. Now however, it has flip flopped and the gray is in all of the new cases hitting shelves, so you're probably more likely to find a gray on the shelves than you would a black (although I still routinely see both). If the gray is rare, they certainly aren't as rare as black headed Destro comic packs and clear Wraith - because I never saw the clear Wraith and the only black headed Destro I saw is the one I bought.

I think I accidentally flip flopped those. I'd read that the *grey* one was going to be the one released going forward, and that the production run on the black was done. My bad, apologies for any confusion. At this point I don't see either of them ever being hard to find, though it's been a while since I saw a black Timber.
