Toys R Us stores in my neck of the woods have received the new ROC MARS Troopers 3-Pack Movie Preview. Last week, I visited two stores and they had put large quantities of the 3-pack. I would estimate that they had at least 35-40 packs on the shelves. When I went back to the same stores a few days later, not one pack had been sold.

Of course, there can be several explanations for this.
1. Word might not have spread that these were in stock yet.
2. Most people might not know about GI JOE: ROC yet.
3. The price (30$Can + taxes) might be scaring people away. I know it scared me!
4. People prefer to buy the Joe and Cobra 5-packs next to them on the shelf for the same price.
5. They may have sold a few units and restocked the shelves.
6. They won't move much until promotion of the movie starts up full blast.

Personally, I left them on the shelf. I couldn't justify spending 35$+ on 3 figures I only want to customize. On the other hand, I'm hoping the ROC stuff does well so Hasbro keeps pumping out figures that I do want.

I'll go back this week and see if they've started moving.

Probably has to do with the movie hype not being on full force right now.

It was said in chat that they MIGHT have a street date of July 1 on these so they weren't supposed to put them out yet. and someone did by mistake.

Days?
Hah!
My TRU has had these packs sitting there for over two weeks and not a single one has sold.

It seems to help get the 5-packs moving, though.

I agree it might be the price. 10 bucks a figure is kinda steep.

I seem to recall there was a fair amount of consternation over the expected prices of a lot of the movie-based toys a while back, and perhaps not without reason. While there are some vehicles from this movie that are of interest to me, I suspect I'll likely wait for sales.

I bought one in Guelph while I was at the Canadian Joe Con.

I want a TON more (Really great figures) and would have bought them (Because they had a crapload) had they not been $25 for 3 figures.

Normally I don't complain about the cost of toys (Because EVERYTHING is going up) but this seems a little excessive to me. For that same $25 and sitting right next to them on the same shelf was the DVD 5-Packs. So for the same amount you can get 5 figures with a ton of accessories and a DVD or 3 figures with few accessories.

DVD 5-packs?

Could also be that the set is just not that interesting. To me those figures look like something less that what we have been getting in regular GIJoe and Resolute. Add $25 and you have FAIL. Lack of full swing marketing is not why these are not being bought.

Before seeing these last week, I had not been to TRU for a few weeks. I was tipped off by one of my non-Joe collecting friends who told me that TRU had ''a new 3-pack with what looked like classic figures.'' He was referring to the proportions of the figs. He felt they looked more like ARAH figs, with big heads and shorter arms legs, etc.

My thoughts exactly. When I saw them in store, I figured that if they were 25$Can or less I would be leaving with a pack or 2. When I scanned them, I practically ran back to the shelf to put them back.

I think its a combo of price and really these are kind of bland figures. they look ok and I think might fit into a larger collection but beyond that they really don't stick out that much.

I kind of wonder if it isn't the blandness of the figures as well. Not saying they are bad figures or anything but they don't really stand out very well when you compare them to the other Joe stuff that has been coming out the past few years.

Should be interesting to see how the figures with more visual pop do once they come out and the movie hype has gone into high gear.

Over on joecanuck, somebody stated he bought a set for $19.95 bucks CAN via Wal-mart. I picked up mine almost 2 months ago for for 25 CAN. One was enough as they are over priced.

Haven't even seen them at Wal-Mart.

Where does the person live?
