ok I finally got a blowtorch at Walmart today. I was very excited because its the only joe I can remember buying with my own money as a kid. Unfortunately the excitement died fast. HE SUCKS. the helmet doesn't fit, the mask wont stay on, the arms dont bend fully, the legs are twisted, and the hands wont hold the torch. so I was wondering is it just mine or do they all suck?

No... They pretty much all suck.

:blowtorch: Just another victim of 'superior' articulation...

Yeah, he's kind of a letdown. I was so looking forward to Blowtorch too, as he was one of my favorites as a kid, and my first "custom" figure (I painted the lens on his mask silver, hehe). Blowtorch's mask is just as bad as Mutt's muzzle, in that it doesn't stay on the pegs.

There's something really weird going on with the pegs on his mask. They have to be held in tightly for a few seconds, to hold. I don't know what the deal is, but just shoving them in quickly doesn't work. I built the pegs up a little with superglue, but it's still a little sketchy getting it to stay on. Once it's on, it stays put, It's just the initial connection that's iffy.

I carved away plastic from the elbows and chest on mine, to get him to be able to hold both handles on his flame thrower. The problem is, his wrists are bent for a standard pistol grip style rifle, but both of the grips on his flamethrower are completely vertical. One thing you could try, would be to cut the shoulder stock, and front handle off. I wound up scratchbuilding a new flamethrower for mine, just so he could hold it properly.

The only thing I can't really fix, is that mine's right thigh is longer than his left.

I was really excited to get this figure. I open him up and he has a fused elbow joint. Instead of using hard plastic for the disc and peg they used soft plastic which bascially fused with the soft plastic used for the arm. So it snapped right off. I contacted Hasbro letting them know that in the last 6 months I had 3 figures with two left feet, 4 figures with fused elbows, another figure whose head snapped his neck peg and missing accessories.

They didn't care and kept sending me the same canned response. Stellar job Hasbro...Stellar job.

Yes they do, the main reason I avoided the figure everytime I have seen him.

Same here. Though I will say that mine made me feel really stupid. For years, I had been putting the backpack on upside down. I don't know why I was doing it that way. Yojoe has it on right:

http://www.yojoe.com/action/84/allgearedup/blowtorch.shtml

Was there a catalog or something that maybe showed it the other way?

I live the fact that they enhanced the backpack on the 25th figure. Not only does the rectangular box come off, but there is that slot so that you can store the weapon on the backpack.

I may be in the minority, but opening my 25th Blowtorch was a lot of fun. I think they did a great job.

I have no major gripes about the figure either, pretty good figure. The mask is annoying, but nothing a little patience couldn't fix.

Oh mine has been a headache as well. Somehow I managed to get things to sort of stay on and I haven't touched the figure since because I know how much trouble he is. Mostly just a display figure now which is sort of sad because he seems like he could have been so much more.

after trying to crack him for parts he is also the only fig I have come accross that has a peg in the center of his chest and was completely glued around the base of the neck.. making him very hard to separate.
