Sorry but no one is likely to give you a straight answer. Then again we are talking about the Brawlin one. Nothing is straight around him. Expect more Brawlin information and love it.
I think the best way to describe Big Brawler (we're talking the ARAHC v1 version here) is that he is the JOEs equivalent of Chuck Norris and Mr. T.
His filecard, meant to pay homage to a member of the community, is a source of amusement. He is supposed to be one of the JOEs 'bad-@$$s', yet his v1 sculpt is somewhat...lacking in that regard.
Honestly, having the misfortune of a head sculpt that clsely resembles Christopher Lowell has led to some jokes.
At this point, I'm surprised no one has had Big Brawler earning a black belt in Feng Shui...
It's all in good fun though. No one is bashing Christopher Lowell for his lifestyle choice. OK? That is not even the issue. At this point, I haven't actually seen any proof or confimation about that lifestyle anyway, so it's a moot point. I just thought he was effeminate.
Frankly, I hope we can live in a world where we can actually make jokes because we're so collectively 'over it' already.
It is the juxtaposition of having a character meant to be one of the baddest JOEs ever be linked to a man known for dollies, funky wall-candle holders (sconces?), and throw pillows. It's the two combined, like Goofy singing "Yellow Submarine' or Elmer Fudd singing 'Ring of Fire' that causes the humor. Maybe a better example would be Leslie Nielson doing comedy. He's a classically trained actor, with numerous stage and dramatic creidts on his resume, You watch any of the 'Naked Gun' movies or the others. He is approaching it serious, yet everything around him is breaking down. Or like Inspector Clouseau, who was abnormal in a normal world, yet thought he was normal in an abnormal world. That is the funny...
There was an attempt to show Big Brawler in in a more postive light, more inline with his filecard bio. That may not have ended on a postive note, but from strictly a custom standpoint there were some interesting ideas presented.
I have toyed with the idea of taking the v1 head sculpt even further. I wanted to do a series of dio shots detailing the life of Big Brawler (like "This is Your Life") and show him doing various things over the years prior to his joining the Team. The baby Big Brawler would have the v1 head.
Then I would have him in various outfits, denoting icons of pop culture: as the 'costumed' Genie from Aladdin on Broadway, as Indiana Jones, as Hamlet in his college days, as The Dude, etc. It's a work in progress.
At this point I don't know if I would actually use Big Brawler as intended or have him just get into these unfortunate situations where the JOEs just wonder about him...when he puts wallpaper up on his barracks wall, does needlepoint, etc...
