YES!

I'm gonna buy the crap out of those figures, all of them. definitely a set or 2 for fodder and a set for the collection too. sure the collection ones might all get renamed different codenames because my 'verse doesn't need the movie continuity in there but the toys there all look NICE.

the movie toyline is off to a hell of a running start!

Yeah everyone will be a new character except maybe Shipreck since it's a pretty generic look for him. Definantly plan on buying multiple Ripcords and Scarletts. The rest I could pass on though. Oh and i'll by a couple of Baroness whenever she is released.

I think these all look really great. Maybe not every last one of them, but overall I like them. I don't quite get why people aren't excited, rocket launchers aside. If they weren't so different, people would be complaining about them being either repaints or just more versions of Snake Eyes/Duke.

I love the 25th line, and I have a couple hundred of those figs I use for customs now. But if you line these all up on the shelf next to each other, in terms only of quality of the figure, I think these would all be near the top, with just a handful of other figs sprinkled in. But as with all my opinions, I'm talking about the figures, not necessarily how well they represent the underlying characters, if that makes sense. I see tons of custom uses from these, and they all seem to be more realistically sculpted than most 25A figs.

Between the trailer and these figs, I'm actually regaining some optimism about the movie again.

My sentiments exactly.

The exception for me will also be Shipwreck, who clearly looks superior than any prior figure. At least for what I'd use him for.

I love the Viper. Still looks just like the guys from Army of Two, which I like. Shipwreck is the only other figure I like, and that's only because of the pictures we've previously seen.

All the figures look worth owning, and if I end up liking the movie, they will surely become must-haves.

That being said, I agree with the criticisms about the packaging. The closest thing it reminds me of is the Valor vs. Venom packaging, which I have absolutley no nostalgia for. These figures will be freed from their ugly packaging upon purchase, for sure. The only thing I can say good about the packaging is that, with the character photos on the card, it will at least be easy to identify which figures are on the racks (I hated having to thumb through all the Mutt Williams figures warming the Indiana Jones pegs, hoping something interesting was hiding in back.) But the current 25th line packaging already accomplishes that, so it's not even an improvement.

Still, I think my goal for 2009 will be catching up on the stuff I missed in 2005-2008. I hate to say it, but with the economy in such bad shape, I believe there will be deals to be had on eBay.

Really tough calls without better pics, but so far Scarlett and Viper are the only ones getting my attention at all (and that is mostly off the card pics since the figs are kind of fuzzy).

But one thing I just noticed, I am getting an X-men toy vibe off these things, that is everyone is in deep greys and blacks, all look standardized and while that might work in a movie it translates into a very boring toyline. Hence Why I never bought any of the X-men toys, not looking good here either.

No hate on these figures, but they just don't appeal to me at all. Someone else hit on it perfectly with the "they all look too similar" idea.

My Joe is rooted in creatively reliving nostalgia via 25th sculpts - so a much appreciated breather from Hasbro for my wallet.

Well, Heavy Duty just solved my quandary over a good base for a Red Dog custom. Sucks I won't be able to complete the Renegades till he comes out though. I'll be picking these up, mostly for parts/renaming. I'm curious to see better pics at Toy Fair next weekend since that'll tip me one way or the other on a lot of these.

Heavy Duty is wearing green fatigues. That's the closest I've seen yet to "traditional" military unis appearing in the movie.

Scarlett does look awfully similar to Cover Girl. Wonder if they'll be repaints of each other.

I'm getting a Cobra-La vibe from the Viper Commando. It's that high collar.

Overall, pretty nice. I'm far from a completist these days, but I'm sure I'll pick up a few!

I really, REALLY like these.

I wish there were bigger pics, but what I see is all good.

Thank you Hasbro!

I've been debating on trying my hand at doing some Blackwater/Army of Two military contractor type characters to mix it up with the Iron Grenadiers. Maybe these Cobra Commandos will work...

I have a feel Scarlett is the 5 pack Lady Jaye body and that Zartan will use the Dusty body, if so, that's great, both figures are perfect for customs.

it'll be nice to see bigger pictures sometime soon. I totally appreciate the low-res pictures we have now though, I'm happy to know that that Trooper/Viper/IG whatever 3-pack isn't the onl;y great stuff we'll get out of the toyline from the movie.
