Hey do any of you guys know if there are any other versions of the M.O.B.A.T.
I have the one from Target's UBP and I hate the fact that it only holds one figure
although I really liked the idea of having a tank to add to my collection
and the thing is it is so heavy compared to the Hiss tank you would think there is something else going on under there
are most 1:18 scale tanks (21st , BBI , PTE) only made to hold one figure ?
I'm not to much knowledgeable about military stuff but wouldnt a tank like that have a driver and a gunner ?

***edit **
MY MOBAT MOVES IT MOVES ,

I found some instructions for the older verison
so I added batteries to mine and............
IT MOVES IT MOVES

One of the main detractions of the MOBAT since its original release in 1982 is that it only holds one figure (and barely at that). I've heard it wasn't even meant for the GI Joe line originally but got pulled in because it worked with the figures. The original had a motor in it that allowed it to move on its own.

Tanks from PTE, BBi, 21st, Chap Mei, Corps!, and even later GI Joe releases like the Mauler can hold up 2-3 figures. Some, like anything based on the Bradley, can hold a few more in their troop transport area.

well my UBP came with nothing in the way of instructions but after some research and looking over my MOBAT I see that it has a battery compartment , I'm gonna add some batteries now and see if we get some movement

Look into a Mauler.

It's the tan Tank from 85...looks similar to an M1A1. Holds four figures, 2 in the "drivers and Passengers" seats, 2 on pegs on the turret.

It also has the motorized movement of the Mobat.

Also may want to check out the Patriot Grizzly. One of the few good vehicles from the JvC/VvV era. The Night Force version is even cooler, if you can find it.

You could also look for the Convention versions of the Mauler in green and Cobra blue that Master Collector did 2 years ago. You may remember that they based their whole Convention set that year on the Mauler!

Oh wait. ..

The UBP came with instructions. The Blue Prints for the MOBAT, Trouble Bubble and HISS are in a baggie with the file cards and decals up under the display in the box. Figure stands, guns and helmets are under the display under the HISS section.

Agreed. I've never complained about the MOBAT because there's a certain classic-nostalgia thing with it at this point, and I'm pleased to have the latest incarnation. I would tend to agree, though, that the Mauler is a little more impressive, and if it's SIZE you want, you can't go wrong with either version of the Grizzly. The Mauler-based Equalizer from Slaughter's Marauders is an impressive piece of work, as well.

This reminded me of something that happened when I purchased the radio-controlled Crossfire back in 1987. One afternoon, while I was minding my own business and NOWHERE NEAR the Crossfire OR its controller, it decided to suddenly start up and take off across the room. Scared the heck out of me. Closest thing to a logical explanation I got was that something operating on the same radio frequency as the Crossfire happened to be nearby at that particular moment.

I still pulled the batteries... 8-O

This still happens to me with the Crossfire. I noticed it also happens when the batteries are low. Maybe some kind of power surge or something. Mine never bolted across a room though. Just revved up like someone was messing with me and then drove off the shelf. I try to pull the batteries but sometimes I forget that I evne put them in there.

Just last week at around 2 am, my daughters UBP Mobat started up and moving down the hallway, scared the living $#@&! out of my wife and I, not to mention the dogs too! When I turned on the light in the hallway there was the Mobat with Scarlett driving and Jinx and Lady Jaye on the back coming down looking for a fight, it was actually funny. I pull the batteries out at night now.

the MOBAT might move on its own but that tank sucks. It's a piddly thing and even my fond memories of it from my childhood can't overpower the suckage I know it to be now.
