I've heard that there are variants to the Star Brigade Armor bot, but which one would you recommend is better:

In colored parts (gold or blue),
In seating capacity, 2 for regular figures, perhaps one for an Armor Tech fig.

What would you guys recommend?

I'm aware of the blue and gold parts being switched, and in fact have both of those versions (and lots of others that I customized), but I've never encountered the two-seater as you describe. Has this been confirmed? Not saying it doesn't exist, just curious.

BTW, that reminds me, you should post some pics of those ArmorBots sometime in the Critique thread. When I first got online, those were some of the first customs I saw. I was amazed that someone took the time to customize that many ArmorBots.

Don't all Armor Bot cockpits seat two? One in front of the other? I've purchased two of these in junk lots and I'm pretty sure both have two seat cockpits.

I thought they WERE posted around here someplace. I'll see what I can do. The vast majority of them would at the very least need considerable dusting these days. And I still want to figure out a way to take a photo of the one that glows in the dark.

For the record, I got a huge load of Armor-Bots on clearance for about ten bucks each, years ago when I had the sort of money to pull that sort of thing. Customized most of them, something like twenty or so. Went through a lot of spray paint.

This'll sound weird, but I think it was my way of "pre-grieving" for my father. He'd had a heart attack, had little intention of recovering since he hadn't gotten over my mother's death a few years prior, and I think turning out all those Armor-Bots was my way of keeping my mind and imagination occupied. As well as learning the graphics program of my computer at the time, in designing labels for them.

I did Armor-Bots for the Iron Grenadiers, Oktober Guard, the Lunartix, Cobra, Mortal Kombat, and some other assorted specialty ones. One I wanted to do was a glow in the dark one, but I was told at the time that there was no such thing as glow in the dark spray paint. I later found some. The Armor Bot was perfect to customize since it came so disassembled and most of the parts were white -- or very slightly off-white, anyway. Only one I never got around to was a Dreadnoks Armor-Bot. Couldn't figure out how to get a grape soda dispenser into the cockpit... :-D

I've heard of your Armor bots but never saw them. Post some pics, I'm sure they are not on the site.

Hey, I remember those custom armor bots...never knew that was you. They actually made me sad I sold my Armor Bot. I'll have to pick up another one some day for customization.

Trekker's Armour-Bots.

I found the link so I get to spell armour like a Canadian.

Yep, that's them all right! :-D

Nice work, Scramble, finding that link.

Dang, 26 of them. And that doesn't count the glow-in-the-dark one.

Unfortunately, the Eco-Bot (which was painted in neon colors that don't really show up photographically very well) had a mishap several years ago and I no longer have that one. I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to re-do it sometime.

The rest are all still present and accounted for, although some of their custom labels have faded over time.

I finally remembered part of the inspiration for this. At the 1993 G.I.Joe Convention, Hasbro brought their own customized Armor-Bot with them, which had been painted in a very impressive and realistic camouflage pattern and given a ton of custom details and labels. It actually looked plausible for the battlefield.

Anyway, opinions and observations certainly welcome!

Well, with a little help from my digital camera and a graphics program, I am going to try to present here a picture of the heretofore unseen "Glow In the Dark" Armor Bot!

based on the pics, i'd call it the toxo-zombie bot.

"In a remote installation running tests on biological and chemical weapons, a malfunctioning bio-coolant experimental system causes the driver of a Cobra Bot from the leaky suit brigade to turn Romeroish. Unsure of how to get out, the thirsty demons thrashings create havoc in the facility as the giant mechanical beast obeys the driver's erratic movements via its controls. Covered in glowy sludge the armored beast is impossible to put down given the heavy armor and the unpredictable nature of the zombie beast."

You know, given that it was darn near impossible to get an even coating of the glow in the dark paint on that thing -- since in regular light it was practically invisible, this isn't too bad an explanation. If I could REALLY light this thing up and get a decent photo of it, it'd sort of look like "glow-camo".
