Aren't Moms great, my mom has been saving my original Joe and Big Jim collection for me for the past 15 years in her attic. Mind you these are the 12" Joes from back in the late 60's early 70's. The Moblie command Center would I to be one of my capstones.

The other would have to be my many faces of Rodk and Roll, you see back in 1991 I had back surgery and there was some question as to how well and much I'ld be able to move around and walk. To make a long story short I made a full recovery, any way during my time of healing I had nothing to do so I started painting my new 3 3/4" Joes because at the time I felt the need for some ethnic diversity.
So Rock and Roll V. 2 was one of the first, as years went on and began to but Joes off of ebay I found myself with quite a number of R&R so I started painting the figure to match some of the various teams I was creating and now I have at least 5 versoins of R&R of all are my favoriets.
And they would be my Capstone.
I almost forgot my Beast would be my third. The Beast is a RCV that I found in the thrift store (it looked to be a space rover or something) but it held three 1:18 scale figures so I gutted it painted it straped on some BTR rocket launchers an machine guns it was a thing of beauty. Once I dig it out and clean it up I'll post it.

It's the only thing really I have left of her, and if the house was on fire the only thing I would go back in for in my joe room.

Not worth a dime to anyone else, but to me I wouldnt sell it for anything.

Great story, that's a real capstone right there.

Mine is. . . I'm not sure. I've got lots of unique items but I'm not sure if I have a capstone per-se.

I just love to collect GI Joes.

I never really thought of any one component of my collection as the one key element. I have a few things that are meaningful to me for a variety of reasons. I regretfully sold all my Joes as a kid but a few got left behind. I still have the V1 Duke, V1 Destro and V2 SE from my childhood. So they are pretty special to me.

I picked up a MIB Rolling Thunder a few years back. It was my favorte childhood toy. I opened and assembled it. It sits on display on the top shelf. The Mauler was the first vehicle I ever picked off the shelf and bought with my own money. I now have 4 complete and a Heavy Metal complete with mic. I have a V1 Snow Serpent and V1 Viper MOC, Larry Hama autographed the starcases they are in at the 07' Con. So those are pretty cool.

And lastl but not least, my Python vehicle customs. I have created and sold many on commission. But I still have my Hammerhead, a Hydrofoil, 2 Hiss tanks, a Rattler, 2 Phantoms, a Terrordrome, a Firebat, and a Mamba all pythonized and on display in my room.

This, along with the originating thread of "what do you do with them?" really got me thinking and I realized I do not have a capstone.

I think I want my capstone to be my Tiger Force Collection and display it along with my TF customs I have done or plan to do.

My second Capstone will be a space dio with shuttles and star brigade.

the problem is space for me. moving every two years I do not have a dedicated space. When I retire and settle in a few years I plan to dedicate a space to my Joes and now I can focus my efforts on my twin capstones.

Before I get to mine, since I took so long to reply to this thread, a few comments about some of the previous "capstones":

Patrick A. Riley -- I saw one of those Street Fighter Movie Ryu figures one time at a Convention. The collector wasn't selling it, he was just showing it. Weird looking thing. Had such a thick neck it looked like Ryu had swallowed a blowfish -- live. You're lucky to have one, though.

kingofpain26 - Congrats on still having your Buck Rogers' Twiki figure! I still have mine, too. He stands here on my computer table with a 9" Jem'Hadar and a bunch of little 1:144 scale NASCARs.

Cap -- NICE Stargate! What scale is that?

Taliesin Crow - That Night Creeper is an awesome item to have. Thanks for sharing it with us. Indeed, a special memory.

Python Viper - I've seen pictures of your Python Patrol customs and you have every reason to consider them your capstones!

==========

As for mine? Interesting question, and one I've never really given that much thought to. As diverse and extensive as my collection is, as others have, I cannot choose just one item. However, some serious contenders would certainly include:

The one surviving action figure from my childhood -- an 8" Mego Superman.

A figure that I very nearly forgot when my family and I moved one time -- a Space Academy "Loki" figure (technically made by Hasbro under their Aviva name in the late 1970's)

The OKTOBER GUARD -- and Kwinn -- just because of how incredibly overdue those guys were. And, I feel, they turned out darn well. Hasbro is to always be commended for these.

The U.S.S. FLAGG -- And Matthew, congrats on getting a nice table for it. Mine sits on the floor and I'm content with that, but it's interesting that for the average person, a table wouldn't be much of a gift -- unless you can put it to a good and specific use. :-D

My G.I.Joe Convention Sets. I've never been disappointed in any of these.

My set of 9" Star Trek "Mirror Universe" figures from Playmates.

I would have to say that the "Capstone" of my collection is the Vamp. I have an original Vamp, Vamp mark II, Stinger, Tiger Force Vamp, Street Fighter movie Guile's Vamp, Valor vs Venom TRU exculsive Vamp, and the new 25th Vamp. Many of my custom vehicles are made from old Vamps and Stingers. To me, the Vamp Jeep was the pinacle GI Joe vehicle. I would like to own atleast one of each version.

For me, I've had several cap-stones over the years, and right now it's between the signed copy of G.I.Joe Special #1 that Larry Hama personally gave to me 10 years ago or my original Hasbro production colored artwork of the 1993 Ninja Force Snake Eyes, which is about 250% the size of the package artwork.

Sure it's Ninja Force, but I love having that piece in a shadowbox frame along with the carded figure. And hey, it's Snake Eyes!

My capstones aren't especially expensive, necessarily, but still hold a place...

1 - My Hit & Run collection. It's not much, but it's cool having the different variations of the character all displayed, with each version there as well as a few non-toy items that bear his likeness. Not much, but he's my favorite character, so that's got a special place to me.

2 - Sigma 6. I know the Sigma stuff wasn't high on most people's list, and for that reason, I think a nicely displayed comprehensive Sigma 6 collection deserves a spot as a "capstone". Among the Sigma stuff is an unproduced 2.5" Thunderhawk w/ Barrel Roll and dozens of digital files of the full artwork done for the Commando style packaging. As folks might realize, the actual packaging only has the top halves of the art, I've got digital pics of the full body art work, which is something unique that eventually I hope to get framed and displayed with the 8" toys I have out.

Justin

I'm really digging this thread!

Terry just reminded me of another I had forgotten because it's been in a comic box for so long...

I have a signed copy of #155 I got from Larry Hama forever and a day ago. Back when the PITT mailing list was about the only game in town and Larry would post there on occasion a thread started up about issue #155 selling for big bucks on ebay. Larry made a post saying that he would have given them one since he had a bunch of extra copies. Well, I don't know if people thought he was joking or not but I emailed him and not only did I get a copy of the issue but he also signed it. I think he only asked that an envelope be sent with enough postage to get it back to me. By far one of the coolest things I've ever gotten. That my sign #50 & signed Special Missions #1 are my G.I. Joe comic Capstones.

I would just like to thank you guys for your comments on my cap stone.

I truly believe that it's not the monetary value of an object that makes it important, but the special memories that they hold.

;)

I have a few that I consider my "capstones".

First is my "Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame" which is basically my collection of Rock 'n' Roll figures. It's a work in progress as I don't have everything I want for it but it's getting there. It also includes the custom figures I have of Rock 'n' Roll which are going on display in those ProTec display cylinders.

Second, like Justin, is my Sigma 6 collection. I didn't collect the 2.5" line much, just a few pieces that tripped my trigger. But I do have 1 of each 8" figure put out at retail and nearly all the variants. I consider it complete. Add to that the test shots I have of ParaDuke, Inferno, and Flint and all the many, many customs I have and I have to say I'm quite impressed with it.

Finally I have a complete set of Farscape action figures, MOC with one of each character signed by the actors that played them on the show. I really wish I had a second set to open and play with.

It's all 1:18 Trekker. I created it from actual photographs of the Canadian set of the now retired SG:1 show. There's are more shots of it in the gallery here onsite. I made both of the bases, both SGC and Pegasus site, and two external Stargates. I sent the Asgardian one (yellow light registers) to Lance Sputnik, since I shelved the dio-story. Boxed the others and keep the Puddle Jumper craft out for reminders.

Mine is my Devastator custom. Even people uninterested in toys or customs comment on him- in a good way ;-) .
Besides that I'd say my Repeater figure (I really love the look of that particular one).

Good point, I got one of those #155's too, and in return I sent him my GI Jack (Rabbits) comic - http://www.yojoe.com/archive/magazines/ ... bits.shtml - (which was also the first introduction of TMNT ever inside it) - I have some other things from Larry that are treasured, not necessarily GI Joe related. The most special of which, GI Joe related, is a comic book (can't recall the title off hand) which is an un-used GI Joe Special Missions he had completed before the comic was canceled which he then incorporated into this other comic book. As he explained in sharpie on the cover.

Not my capstone...but

I have a G.I. Joe post card from when I wrote in to the Marvel Comic with suggestions for astronaughts, a shuttle, a space station and more. I remember I had one astronuaght with a double missle launcher, one on each shoulder, this was in the early '80s before the Defiant, before Fast Draw, etc...

It was a nice little reply note with Duke (or was it Hawk?), Scarlett and Snakes, and Duke had a speech bubble saying thanks for letting them look at my ideas but sorry they could not use them.
