Most of my joes are on shelves.
Duplicate characters and some of the JvC - DTC figures are stored in some boxes.

Let's see, I don't have the time I used to anymore but when I did I was usually building small dioramas (will get back to this one day), did some diostories for a bit, playing around with the toys, taking photos, doing customs and working on assorted hobby related websites. I did selling for a while but got tired of that real quick. These days if I don't want something any longer I tend to either give it way or just throw it out. Throwing it out I've found is a lot easier so I've been filling the local dump with plastic for a good while now. :) Most of my stuff is packed up from one aborted move and waiting on another... so, I have lots of plastic tubs... I tend to feel like I'm collecting those rather than the contents these days.

Primarily, though, I stick with Other these days. (Other being the Index, still being updated regularly, just haven't touched the main page in months.)

I organize mine into small displays and try to change up said displays every now and again. The majority of them are stored away because I just don't have room to display it all right now. Over the summer I started playing some Joes with my 2 year old daughter. She likes when I fly FANGS around the room and she loved sending HISS tanks hurtling down ramps outside. :-) The Warthog is a "bus". :-)

Hording is such an ugly word, I prefer stockpiling.

I customize, display, and stockpile mostly. Someday when I have more room I hope to start making dioramas.

I'd have to say I do or have done all of the above at one point or another. You should see my living room setup. (Actually, you can) Primarily, what takes up most of my toy-related time these days is animating the figures, but that cuts across all lines I collect and is one of the primary ways I tell stories in my custom universe (which isn't all custom :shifty: ).

Interesting comments about play patterns. I've only really learned mine over the course of the past year. When I first open a figure, whether he is the first or the seventh specimen of that character, the very first thing I do is arm him, placing his rifle in a realistic pose utilizing both hands. I guess i've been doing this since 1983. It's what's taken the thrill out of the new figure design for me, as, despite having swivel wrists and flexible hands that can both grasp a weapon, the arms can't bend quite far enough to pose them the way I want, with the Resolute Duke being a happy exception.

Joe:6 book cases in my bed room on display
Cobra: two dozen boxes next to my Book cases

which equals little room for me to sleep or work at my desk and even less chance of romancing women, I had a girlfriend once who didn't mind but sleeping at her house was a foray into My Little Pony Land - funny we broke up over an argument over who was acting more mature.

An interesting poll. I haven't really done any customs for a while. I suppose the main thing I do with my Joes -- and other action figures -- is display them. And there's something to be said for "pride of ownership" as well. I like being able to say that yes, I have action figures of all eight members of Oktober Guard, or yes, I do have this or that foreign G.I.Joe figure, or that exclusive figure to the G.I.Joe Collectors' Convention, or San Diego ComiCon, or whatever. Odd as it sounds, I just enjoy having them around. Would "Enjoying their company" be too much to say? :-D

One of the main reasons I started collecting again was so that I could use the figures in an RPG from. Before the miniatures came out SW: THE RPG recommended using figures as a way to watch the battle unfold on the tabletop. I always thought that would be cool for GI Joe. I then saw a game at B & N called GURPS, which is an RPG that allows fro generic characters to be used in whatever time and setting you choose. I'm still in the process of collecting all of the manuals and books needed in order to figure out how to make it work. :lifeline2:

I think this thread and the "capstone" thread are some of the most interesting reading I have done in a bit on this board.

Very deep and made me think a bunch.

Right now I am mostly a hoarder with some small display and a lot of holding/admiring and then putting back in the bin.

I hope to one day have a very large room where I can display a lot and do either seasonal or rotating displays.

My hoarding and "have to have" days have dwindled off a bit, yes I want all the 25th, but I am not crying that I have not found the Cobra Diver or Ninja Viper. If I find them fine, great, if not, oh well. I have actually had a lot of second thoughts and regrets on the extreme packs. great to look at, but I already have a tele viper, snow serpent and vipers, and do not want an arctic Scrap. I am seriously considering selling them as well as my blue baroness since while I like the 25th, I don't army build, nor need every variation. I got a Wraith, very happy, but I do not need a clear Wraith.

In short, I hoard and play and do small displays on two small shelves. I hope to one day, when I am done moving every two years have a huge room to display lots of my stuff in both static and dynamic dios.

If I think about it I would definately consider myself a hoarder. I buy a figure take it out of the package play with it for 10 to 15 min. then I stick it in a drawer with a hundred others. And thats about it. I take a couple out every once and a while and I mess with them a bit, but most of them I never realy touch.
