Mutt & JY. What else can I say? I love that net launcher

I went with Cutter (92), mostly because I think the headsculpt is distinctly superior to the "chinless wonder" of 1984.

IMHO it was between Mutt and Shockwave.

Loved both, loved the dog,
Picked Shocks cause of the bare head and removable helmet.

Bulletproof is one of my all-time favorite Joe characters and his v1 figure kicked ass.


To be fair though, there were lots of great figures from DEF corner of the mythos like the first Headhunter, Cutter, Mace, and the MC repaint Long Arm but I definitely have to give top honor to BP. It'd be very hard to pick a 2nd favorite though...

DEF was my fave subset. That was the gold days of me joes.
The helmeted Law, even with the yellow, Shocks, Mutt, Cutter (the coast guard boat that was meant to stop "drug" shipments)

It all worked. It was a good message for kids, with great figs, at least from an adult collector perspective.

I went with Bullet Proof, he was a new character and had awesome equipment and colors (unlike bazooka head Mace) a lot of the other figures like Shockwave and Mutt couldn't compete with earlier versions

Is there any question who I'd vote for?

The DEF is probably the most underrated subset in the entire vintage Joe line. There's isn't a bad Joe in the '92 bunch. Mutt is great, Bulletproof offers something you didn't otherwise have and Cutter is easily the best version of him ever released. But, I went with Shockwave just because of what a great figure it is. The bomb squad helmet with police colors and decent weapons summarizes DEF in a single figure. He can be used in both military and civilian settings. The later repaints didn't count because they were Surefire and because they didn't have the original hemet. But, given that, Shockwave is the best of a really strong bunch.

Great update to a classic character and a great accessory. Shockwave is good and I do like the Sure Fire figure that uses the same mold but it doesn't outshine the original for me. Bullet Proof and Mace are also solid figures. Well excluding Mace's missile firing helmet.

I love Mace and voted for him. I don't know, was he suppose to be just another Duke? I made a cool custom of him a few years ago but never posted it here. I guess I should.
