I don't know if this was a NEW program or not, but I've never seen it before. It was part of History Channel's "Modern Marvels" series, and the focus of it was on Boys' Toys.

Most of these predated the modern era, but it covered a wide range including electric trains, squirt guns (including Super Soakers), Matchbox cars, LEGO, and quite a bit more -- including G.I.Joe! The emphasis was on the 12" figures, but the 3-3/4" line at least got a cameo, and Derryl DePriest was interviewed.

It's a couple years old, but still a good episode to watch.

Thanks for the Heads Up Trekker!

I watched it yesterday. I gave me goosebumps seeing all those old Joes!

I'll pass those thanks along to an online friend of mine who's the one who tipped me off. Interestingly enough, he's not a toy collector. He's a stamp collector. Well, each to their own hobbies. Nothing wrong with stamp collecting. He's also pretty much "addicted" to the History Channel, as well as Discovery and Travel Channels.

I had a hunch the episode was a couple of years old, but it still played well. And yeah, seeing a lot of those old toys got me thinking. With all the garbage from DCUC and MOTU I've endured lately, I think I've really lost my sense of fun about this hobby recently. I need to try to get it back somehow.
