I really do hope we end up getting an Iron Grenadier single-pack. At this point, I think its a long shot, considering we've seen the IG mold in three different releases already (2 different comics packs, and this 3-pack). This character was the one I was most looking forward to for an army builder, but I feel like there are a lot of reasons against army building it.
The mold itself uses more armored Cobra Commander parts than I'd like, although I understand the story about M.A.R.S. being behind the design of both. Then, instead of a single pack release, he's in a comic pack with Destro (they talk in some of the Q & A's about a character being popular enough for single-pack release, you'd think the Iron Grenadier would meet this criteria).
The second comic pack release made a lot of sense, but I had already bought enough Vipers by the time it came out.
Then, this 3 pack comes out. Here, we have a decent pair of army builders, and another Destro, of course. I might be in the minority here, but I think the metallic purple IG looks terrible. I can understand the Voltar connection to purple, but I don't think they managed to pull it off. I'd rather they stick closer to the original IG colors of red, black, and gold, and do some variation of that. The purple just doesn't fit to me.
Also, the purple figure is the trooper, and the regular looking IG is the officer? Again, that doesn't make a lot of sense. I didn't notice any differences between this one and the other IG releases.
On the other hand, I'd LOVE to see them release a 7-pack with an Iron Grenadiers theme, like they did the the Extreme Conditions packs. Its probably not possible unless they mold more new parts, but how about an IG pack with a couple of IGs, an Annihillator, a Nullifier, a Ferret, and maybe Voltar or Metal-Head.
